What's wrong with music today? Nothing really. It just depends on where you look.
Emerging New York singer songwriter Britt Strickland is an artist not content to sit in one musical setting.
Raised in the American south, Strickland channels the ghosts of the Reconstruction, and definitive folk rock roots with indie music experimentation and flavor. It is reflective of his tenure overseas as former lead singer of Glasgow, Scotland rock band The Squires. The result is a melodic mix of indie pop, with the haunting ambience of vintage Americana. Strickland never fully departs from the Americana backbone of his music and lyrics. And the term "Dust bowl era Joe Strummer" makes perfect sense to him. Maybe it will work for you too.
Give a listen to his self-produced release, "Telegraph from the Nameless", or catch one of his soulful solo live performances at a New York club soon.
***Also, look out for Britt's new Americana trio: Swamphenge. Coming to a club near you soon.
