About Me

Well, what does one say about oneself? I could talk about all the things I want to do...but that would be a little boring and bad luck to boot, right? I could talk about all the things I've done, but that would be boastful and I would come across like one of those pompous nits who thinks the world revolves around their life and ignores all the evidence to the contrary (though if truth be told, we all deep down really do think that the world revolves around us and secretly hope its true). Perhaps I should talk about my interests, but then I'd be tempted to unearth the most obsure attention grabbing item from the archeological digsite that is my mind and post it here just for pure entertainment...and to make myself look oh so strikingly worth knowing (for example, I once considered being an astronaut until I discovered as a child that I was no good at holding my breath). But somehow I fathom that none of these strategies will do. No, I think the answer is clear: if you want to get to know me, then you'll have to take the time (as difficult as it may sound) to get to know me. I will repeat here the refrain of every kindergartener on their first day of school: BE MY FRIEND! See you 'round the playground.

My Interests

Video of the Week 23 JUNE: SHERYL CROW--"I Shall Believe"

I'd like to meet:

Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Lou Reed, Elvis, the Beatles, Jimi, Stevie, Bono, Edge & the boys, Milli Vanilli (just to tell them that it's not all bad), Jimmy Stewart, Donna Reed (no relation to Lou), Sean Connery ("yes, Miss Moneypenny..."), Thom Yorke, Lenny Kravitz, Moby, the gang called Dream Academy, Everclear...in fact, why don't we just throw a party and invite them all? Waddaya think?

Books:

Cool Book Quote (20 March): "The North of prudence consists in unfurling the sails to the wind of the Favorable Moment. In these affairs waiting never does any harm. Presence takes the edge off hunger, and distance sharpens it. Maintaining your distance, you will be considered a lion, while being present, you could become a mouse born of the mountain. You are certainly rich in fine qualities, but qualities lose their luster if touched too often, whereas fancy travels farther than sight." --Umberto Eco The Island of the Day Before

Heroes:

Dylan, Hendrix, Superman, Batman. Aren't they all about at the same level? I did also like Daredevil, but the real DC Comics Daredevil, not the gay Ben Affleck movie version. I also like Einstein, Stephen J. Hawking, Terry Fox, Christopher Reeve...real heroes like that. My own superpowers include bowling like an ijeet, not singing, and finding the slowest line at the supermarket.

My Blog

History of St. Patrick's Day (pilfered from the world wide web):

St Patrick is known as the patron saint of Ireland. And for drinking Guinness.  True, he was not a born Irish.  But he has become an integral part of the Irish heritage, mostly through...

True Christmas Spirit

I cannot believe how good Dee Snider looks after all these years!  Yes, it's true.  I was one of those '80s losers who actually thought that Twisted Sister was cool--their music was a kin...
