In Latin mythology, Suada is the Goddess of persuasion. Not everyone is the same and we wanted to convince people to understand that. In our lyrics we speak about what war can do, pain and losing your loved ones, searching for your light... This is what our first album entitled “Journey through the afterlife†is about. It's a story about a girl who lost everything when she died in a war and in her afterlife she searches for the eternal light. Her beloved are that light; it’s what her heart desires. The other creatures who want to ‘help’ her, can't convince her because they only care for her when she gives something in return. She notices that. So in the lyrics we also try to persuade people to open their eyes and listen to their heart.
Suada was formed in Genk, a small town in Limburg, Belgium, during the summer of 2005. Three former members of Midnight Tears, Ellen, Lara and Patrick, decided to fully engulf themselves in music and continue working as a tight group. While searching for new band members they found Elke. After only one rehearsal they were convinced by Elke’s beautiful voice and fantastic input in the band. Shortly after, Patrick decided to invite Sara, with whom he was working on a musical project, for a try-out in the band. After hearing Sara bashing the drums, they were overwhelmed and totally sure that these five would, from then on, form the core of the band. They began working on their first album and were very proud of their songs, but still had the feeling that something was missing. With the help of their two experiments, Sonja on the harp and Katrien on the cello, they were all ready to start working on a real album. They began experimenting with their sound and "Journey through the afterlife" is the result of months of hard work. Currently, Suada is already working on the preparation of their second album.
