When i was 16, a good friend of mine, Alex Edwards fascinated me with his guitar playing. I bought a guitar off him for £20, he gave me one lesson and let me get on with it. By the age of 19, i could use all my fingers. Then i tried to sing. Then i tried to write song's to sing about.
I started writing songs with another good friend of mine Matt Cussworth by the age of 21. We both wrote a song from a poem my father had written. Which i had to perform in a theatre production. After drinking half a bottle of whiskey i got through it, but realised that nerves and confidence was an issue. I shyed away from everything and the next few years i went through a difficult time. The only way i could channel my feelings and express myself was through music.
It took me a long time but with constant pushing from my friends i.e. Matt by chance i met a mutual friend Steve Longstaff, who produces his own music and plays the double bass. A year later we were gigging. So from being afraid to play in front of a couple of people to playing i front of a few is a great release for me.
