I'd like to meet:
I'm not into "famous people." I've met (or heard in person) a few of them (well-known Christians) at book signings, conferences, big churches, etc. What can you do except shake their hand, get their autographs, and say something stupid about their latest book, sermon, whatever? You know as soon as you've moved out of the line, they have forgotten you.I had the privilege of working a couple times with Warren Wiersbe and he's a great guy, very personable and down to earth. If I have a chance to work with other well-known Christian leaders, I hope they are the same way. I don't have a lot of respect for "stars," prima donnas, high-dollar preachers. Some of the neatest people I've met no one has ever heard of--missionaries, seasoned prayer warriors, ancient saints. They are humble, faithful servants of God, passionately laboring in some forgotten place. They are stars in heaven and I hope to be among them when God hands out the eternal awards.
Music:
Mostly praise and worship, though I'm eclectic in my tastes. I don't mind listening to the BEST of almost all genres--from bluegrass to classical--anything but modern country music and rap!
Movies:
Sometimes I like a mindless comedy like The Pink Panther or Napoleon Dynamite. Other times I like something thought-provoking like A Beautiful Mind or Life Is Beautiful. Among classic movies, African Queen and You Can't Take It With You are my favorites.
Television:
Don't watch much TV because most of it isn't fit to watch, but when I do I'm intrigued by the show My Name Is Earl and I laugh with my kids (they are young adults, 18 & 22) when we watch The Office together.
Books:
OK, since I'm an editor, I'm supposed to put something impressive here. Recently read and mulling over, Waking the Dead (John Eldredge). I'm trying to get back to Surprised by Joy (C.S. Lewis). I don't read much fiction, but I like Lewis' fiction (Chronicles of Narnia, space trilogy) and John Grisham.
Heroes:
The unsung ones who serve the Body of Christ in anticipation only of their true rewards in eternity.
