He had a dream.... and it all came through! He was 3 years old and opposite where his family used to live there was a club that was grooving every Saturday night and pumping disco music until 3 in the morning. He was there starting to check out his first labels at some djs bags behind the mix then its all came together day by day. Melp started DJing around 8 years ago at house parties in his own town of Catania, and his style can only be described as deep, minimal electronic house music. After moving to Nottingham a year later, he befriended many local DJs and promoters who encouraged Melp to start playing commercially, so he did! Three years on, and Melp has played at clubs and events all over the UK, including his own night Shake the Groove that he started with friends based in Leicester. His favorite artists at the minute include Tiefschwartz, Chicken Lips and anything on the Lowdown label. His sound is influenced greatly by 80s producers such as Cybertron and Ron Trent, as well as modern day greats such as Boratto Guy & Da Fresh. Melp believes the most important factors in a set is to be musical accessibility and high DJ involvement. He admires DJs such as Rennie Pilgrem, Carl Cox and Steve Lawler for their work-rate as well as their sublime musicality. Melp likes to play records that don’t sound like anything that has been made before, and strives to push his crowd through all the emotions before leaving them with smiles on their faces at the end of the night. After all, he still grooving!!
