Movies, especially the classics. All types of music. Animation and anime, including soundtracks and J-pop. Like most guys, I love sports, especially baseball (Yankees and formerly the Cubs) and football (Eagles) and hockey (Senators and Devils). The one that surprises people is this one: I am a HUGE tennis fan too. I could (and have) spend entire days during the major events just sitting and watching the matches on TV. And I would do such naughty things to Jelena Jankovic. So what else do I like? Reading, cooking, pro wrestling, the Shore, intelligent people, classic TV/radio. Dogs, cats, reptiles and bats. The glory days of pinball. Oh yeah, and sex. Definitely sex. I am very adventurous and, for lack of a better word, kinky with the sex thing. But don't let that scare you off...I am an open book, I am who I am, and that goes for anything about me in life. I love people that are honest just the same, as well as intelligent and genuine. No phonies, no BS, no shallowness...if you are a practicer of phoniness and BS and shallowness, or any combination of the three, do us both a favor and ix-nay on this ofile-pray...K? 8-)
Christina Ricci. Alanis Morrissette. Brendan Fraser. Chuck Barris. Nora "Molly Holly" Greenwald. Rachael Ray. Matt Damon. The Rat Pack. Hayao Mayazaki. Denzel Washington. Anyone who'd want to pay me and publish my book. Adam West. Al Gore. Franka Potente. Monica Rial.Beyond that (and getting back to reality), I love to meet and get to know people full of coolassity for chat and friendship.
Garbage are the best f*cking band on the planet. But wait, there's more! Alanis Morrissette, Madonna, Roxette, Apoptygma Berzerk, Justine Suissa, Deana Carter, Sarah Brightman, Veruca Salt, Frank F'N Sinatra, Melanie C, Jo Dee Messina, 80's pop/funk/new wave/anything, old-school rap, Japanese pop and anime soundtracks...very wide variety of musical taste.
I especially absolutely LOVE dance/trance music. And Depeche Mode completely speaks to my soul. Concerts I've seen range from Richard Marx to Tim McGraw to Switchblade Symphony. Oh, and the fact that Anastacia and Kristine W. are not huge stars in the U.S. is nothing short of a goddam crime.
Huge lover of the classics. In no particular order, my favorite films of all time include "All About Eve" and "Sunset Boulevard" (both 1950), "The Shawshank Redemption" (1994), "West Side Story" (1961), "Grease" (1978, the last great movie musical), "Sling Blade" (1995), "Double Indemnity" (1944) and others. Animated films by Hayao Miyazaki such as "Princess Mononoke" and "Spirited Away", plus Satoshi Kon's "Perfect Blue" and "Millennium Actress" are amazing. My favorite new director of the millennium: Zhang Yimou. He's actually not altogether new but he's new to most people in the States, myself included, and before the likes of "Hero" and "House of Flying Daggers" he had done many films, but not of this style. His films--ALL of them that he's done this decade--have completely thrilled and captivated me, and I don't care if you like reading subtitles or not, you need to SEE THESE MOVIES. Look him up on IMDB.com and go rent one. Maybe you won't like it, and that's cool. But if you do like it, you're going to thank me for this.
I hope to see this on DVD sometime before the next Apocalypse:
Most of my TV watching is DVD's, but beyond that when I do watch TV it's usually anime/animation, or CNN, or GSN, or sports. I do religiously watch "Survivor", "The Amazing Race" and the likes of the ultra-hot Gail Simmons on "Top Chef".
Beyond that, it's usually movies or TV shows on DVD. I love classics like "I Love Lucy" and "The Honeymooners", or more modern classics like "Cheers". Used to love "MST3K" too, still watch it on VHS/DVD a lot. "The Twilight Zone" is one of the greatest shows ever, Rod Serling was a total genius. And as anyone who knows me even a little bit can tell you, I seriously love game shows. GSN is my "default network".
Coyote Television Network!
I wish I read more, but when I do I prefer biographies and entertainment-themed materials.
Batman can kick anyone's ass.But for a serious answer: My family. Entertainment icons. Al Gore. Ric Flair. Osamu Tezuka. Pioneers who brought and continue to bring all races and genders and sexual orientations into mainstream acceptance: Billie Jean King, Althea Gibson, Flip Wilson, Sidney Poitier, Roberto Clemente, Arthur Ashe, I could list many more.
