A young man named Lex Zavala from Southwest Detroit found ME Entertainment when he was only nineteen. The company started as a youth entrepreneur program through the Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation, D.H.D.C., a community based non-profit organization. D.H.D.C. helped young Zavala organize his very first event, The Hip-Hop Olympics (H2o); which is a Hip-Hop competition of Break-Dancing, Rapping, Graffiti Art, D.J.ing, in August 2002. D.H.D.C was approached to help organize a festival at Hart Plaza in Downtown Detroit called the Youth Empowerment Summit, or the Y.E.S. Festival. D.H.D.C told the organizers of the Y.E.S Festival about young Zavala and his event, they instantly saw the potential and offered him the opportunity to combine the two. The event was a three-day festival with a turn out of 10,000 people. Mr. Zavala gained a lot of media attention from this event, which included two exclusive interviews with The Detroit News Paper, and Channel 4 WDIV, a NBC affiliate. With the momentum off the first H2o young Zavala realized he needed help to make his company grow. So he approached Jose J. Salas, event coordinator, and Antonio Villarreal, aka ..Supreme,.. music producer and graphic artist in late 2002. With this new team, ME Entertainment Separated H2o from the YES Festival and went to work. The 2003 H2o, held at Detroit..s Hockey Town Café, Oct 25th 2003, became the biggest hip-hop competition of the year for the city of Detroit. Red Bull Energy Drink and Fila-USA quickly recognized the events potential, and were the main sponsors for the event. Media coverage included 105.9fm, Real Detroit Magazine, Rollin Out Magazine, Ask magazine, Switch Play TV and M.M.R.A newsletter and magazine. This helped ME Entertainment to become the hottest new Latin hip-hop organization in the city of Detroit. In 2004 ME Entertainment wanted to give back to D.H.D.C. and the Southwest Detroit community for all their support. ME Entertainment organized 3 events a 3 on 3 basketball tournament named ..The Game.., and two break dance competitions ..Rock Da Bellz and ..Shamrock Tha Floor... These events were planed to help rase funds for D.H.D.C..s youth programs. In 2005 Me Entertainment expanded again adding another partner Keith Sabudda to help do events coordinating, promotions and entertainment for night clubs. With this addition ME Entertainment was able to take on contracts to manage exclusive artist such as rapper Young Miles and Kimberly Spicer, Miss June 1999. ME Entertainment also added two fiduciary companies one of which is ..Dirty Politix.. a record label run by Me Entertainment partner Supreme. Dirty Politix has a long range of artist from Hip-Hop and R&B, to Reggaeton. The second of the two companies is Millimeter Films run by founding partner Alexis Zavala who has already won a national award in a film competition put on by the Department of Labor for his short documentary ..Poison... Mr. Zavala is now working on a full length documentary entitled ..Trapped Living The Life.. which is about gangs in Southwest Detroit.
