GRIM (acronymous for Music Improvisation Research Group) is born as a musical entity in 2005, it led various workshops on improvisation & projects throughout Italy (more information to be found at www.grim-italy.it).
Its latest project is the constitution of a variable sized and shaped orchestra (EAsilence, EAquartett, EAorchestra).
Its core had formed in 2006 by the meeting of GRIM’s promoters Alessio Pisani and Mirio Cosottini with avant-rock guitarist Roberto Sassi and jazz trained drummer Andrea Melani.
Thanks to immediate mutual understanding, the orchestra represented the perfect meeting point for the experimental and explorative tensions of such different musicians, whose background range from classical music to contemporary, from jazz to the extreme boundaries of rock.
Interpreting its way of crossing electronics with acoustic & electric instruments, the orchestra’s efforts focus on exploring the possibilities of structured improvisations & creative composing methods.
