About Me

Dylan Sage (aka Mr. Lean) has been an emcee for 14 years, cutting his teeth as a youth spitting strictly hip hop stylings over DnB, playing the End, Bar Rumba, Home and Mass as well as two shows a week on pirate radio stations Rinse FM and Rude Awakening. Moving into hip hop and performing with a live band, Dylan became a part of the London scene, a regular on the Open Mic at the Fledgling Kung Fu , he also hosted cult Brighton hip hop night Reverbalise, and became resident emcee for London funk and soul night Fidgit , starring alongside regular guests such as the Nextmen and DJ Hoop (Tuff Love) . He migrated to San Francisco to hone his skills in 2002, cutting some tracks with eclectic producer Mophono and recording vocals for the Funky Fresh Fews Stealing LP, released on Grand Central (2003). Back in the Big Smoke in 2004, Dylan became resident emcee for the Fidgit / Tuff Love crew and has become one of the Nextmen s tour emcees, doing shows up and down the country at events like V festival, TDK Festival, the Smirnoff Experience and Bestival. Now collaborating on live performance with Natural Self and as resident emcee for the Breakin Bread nights at the Jazz Café (London), Dylan Sage is a veteran of stages up and down the country and has set venues alight from the Zap (Brighton) to the Level (Bristol), from Friends and Family at the Kro Bar (Manchester) to Fabric and the Jazz Café . Equally at home playing intimate, low-key sets and festival showcases he is a true master of ceremonies, hyping the crowd into a frenzy and inspiring the DJ to take his selections a bit further. His live experience and his love of diverse music means he’s ready to ride any styles and his energy makes him a pleasure to watch and a joy to work with. Never outclassed by the acts he shares the stage with (who have included Jeru the Damaja, Rodney P and Skitz, TY, Jehst, Dynamite MC, Roni Size and many more), his mic skills and live persona rock the show every time. Currently hosting the Heads High events in London and with numerous musical projects in the pipeline, including the Grave Danger EP, with Madman Speaks , and a currently unamed project produced by Lonerider he’s definitely one to watch.
