JUNGLE FRESH Biography
Jungle Fresh started in February 1997 @Cooperage Club in Plymouth.
Originally it was a one off event to host Roni Size & Krust coming to the city but due to the massive success of the night, JF became a monthly fixture at the Venue.
Over the next 2 years they brought many massive names in Jungle/DnB to JF including: Grooverider, Hype, Zinc, Andy C, Mickey Finn, Ray Kieth, Jumping Jack Frost, DJ Rap, to name but a few. Not to mention all the wicked resident DJ's that have been part of JF over the years, including: Hydro, Squeek, Rednutz, Stevie G, Jynx, Trex, Strategy, Brody, Phat Chex & the one remaining resident who has been there from the start & who also happens to be the promoter DJ Quest.
In 1999 JF moved to the much bigger venue @UPSU (University of Plymouths Students Union) attracting upto 1500 ravers every month. JF continued putting on quality parties for the next 5 years, not only bringing down all the leading names in DnB/Jungle but Hip Hop heavyweights like Scratch Perverts, Rodney P & Skitz and Phi Life Cypher.
In 2002 Jungle Fresh moved to a nu underground venue @The Bus Stop & continued there good work until the club closed in 2004, many will remember the roadblock events with DJ Die & MC Tali, the mighty Nicky Black Market & the plymouth debuts of Total Science & Twisted Individual.
In 2004 Jungle Fresh hosted the DnB/Jungle/Hip Hop arena @Parklife Festival in Newnham Park, Plymouth. Hip Hop crews The Cohorts, Lowlife, DJ's Loctite, X.L & Bloodshot took stage in the afternoon & early evening. They set the place alight & vibes were runnin. Nicky Blackmarket, Quest, Trex & Jynx follwed in the evening & raised the roof even furter, it was a huge success & many said it was the best arena all day & night.
Over the past 2 years Jungle Fresh has hosted a few one off parties to keep the vibe alive while Quest has had other commitments but now Jungle Fesh is back in business & in conjunction with Res DnB @C103/Wharehouse, Plymouth. They are puting on parties every last friday of the month, the 1st is on Friday 24th November with the original Don, The Mighty Grooverider alongside Ganja Recordings & Radius Records maestro DJ Hazard, support comes from Original Jungle Fresh resident DJ Quest plus Jynx & Switch, MC's on the night will be Script & Junior Red.
