Astrakaan

Dull, luminous, backwards yet amazing metal

About Me

Astrakaan is so far a project by me; Mattias Reinholdsson.I have been playing and writing music since the early ninties. In early 97 I started Book of Hours with a couple of friends. We started out as a perhaps more regular metal/progressive/rockband and released a record in that style in 99. Members were coming and going over the years and the music changed into a more exprimental (and better) one. Unfortunatly we never came to release any of that stuff to the general public and we finally broke up the band in late 04.Last year me and partner in crime, Henrik Johansson released a strange Maiden tribute under the name of Food for Thought that we had been working on for a couple of years. The record got great reviews and the reception from the Maiden fans were very satisfying. But what about a Astrakaan? Well, songs have been brewing in my head for years. Songs in a more straight forward "metal" sort of way. And finally it became clear to me that I had to deal with it somehow. So I picked out a few songs to record and went ahead. So here I am. What will happen next?..
