Build a man a fire, you warm him for a day. Set a man on fire, you warm him for life.

About Me

ever-changing, always mutable, quite adaptable
who told you making a career change would be difficult??
student!, on-hiatus freelance photographer, on again off again caffeine junkie, former binge drinker, frequent insomniac, always sarcastic, regularly curious/experimental, closet wild child, often wordy, occasionally spontaneous, constant non-conformist, methodically neurotic, perpetually late, selective workaholic, compulsively obsessive
i adore the bloke who sat next to me during 28 Weeks Later and, with impeccable timing and flawless delivery, quoted a line from Hot Fuzz regarding exploding heads - i haven't laugh so hard at a zombie movie since Shaun of the Dead . ;)
WARNING: SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION
this is where you want to go for something more visually rousing
http://belario.deviantart.com
and here as well: don't blink or you'll miss it (belario on flickr)
i turn my music up loud so i don't have to hear myself singing, ;)
i squeeze the toothpaste in the middle,
and i am not abashed to avow that i am quite taken by nigh all mellifluous, witty riposte.

My Interests

i've not seen this particular movie, i didn't know about the contest, and i generally have an aversion to kids in advertisements, but i really believe in the message and hope that people take it to heart, not only for their children but for themselves as well.

i like learning; i don't want to waste my brain.

lobbing tennis balls over the fence, reading, poetry, photography, writing about stuff, asian cuisine, food & drink, dining out, fresh berries (raspberries are the best), making out, tattoos , quantum physics, silver, glass art, shiny objects, fireworks, thunder & lightning, art, being in water, shots, eye candy, who needs frills as long as you've got thrills, having a good time, laughing so hard i turn crimson red because i can't breathe, change is good and everything happens for a reason, ssshh...it's a secret , stars that burn holes in your retinas, stars that don't, money for milk intoxicators, raw quince, "all the sex and blood migration", what happens in the synapses between the axons, exploiting my vises, sharing the comedic drama that is my life, Cursive's tune The Recluse, down the rabbit hole , Beaver, what a lovely way to burn, muckrunner

really too many

p.s.

I'd like to meet:

i tend to believe that you can't know too many people; networking should not be taken lightly.

i'm drawn to smart, knowledgeable, creative, well-spoken, passionate people. if you can teach what you know, i'll like you more - - maybe. as quid pro quo would dictate i'll imbue my knowledge, whatever good or malign that will do, to you.

let's get together over caffeinated beverages (mine will be a [double] dirty chai) and geek-out about current music and classic literature, or reminisce about 8-bit video games, Marvel comics penciled by Jim Lee , and cartoons when we were kids, or let's play Guitar Hero, check out the new art in the graphic novel, and buy tshirts with our favorite "retro" cartoon characters screen printed on them.

a happy ending would be like Hard to Concentrate and Island in the Sun

Music:

it's good for the soul...

a little of this, a lot of that...it depends on my mood

SUPPORT LOCAL MUSIC, YO.

Movies:

viewer's choice award: The Secret Room
Adaptation, Fight Club, Reservoir Dogs, Dogma, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Amelie, Schindler's List, The Red Violin, Boondock Saints, Ocean's Eleven, Playing by Heart, Finding Forrester, Hero, Memento, Napoleon Dynamite, Finding Neverland, Garden State, Lost in Translation, Spanglish, 50 First Dates, Love Actually (oh, those wonky Brits), Happy Endings, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, V for Vendetta (the most satisfying movie experience i've had in quite awhile), Waking Life, What the BLEEP Do We Know!?, 300, Pan's Labyrinth, Transformers
i've got this quirky habit of not only watching the same movie several times in the span of a week (sometimes in the same day), but keeping it on as background noise while having a different language setting. i like watching movies with subtitles even if they are already in english. i'm addicted to the directors' commentaries.
[note to self: watch the movie before reading the book!]

Television:

mmeh, not so much

Books:

e.e. cummings, william blake, the orchid thief (susan orlean), harry potter (j.k. rowling), hey nostradamus! (douglas coupland), lord of the flies (william golding), the princess bride (william goldman), einstein's dreams (alan lightman), charlotte's web (e.b. white), the mysteries of harris burdick (chris van allsburg), angels & demons (dan brown), his dark materials series (philip pullman), a clockwork orange (anthony burgess), the little prince (antoine de saint exupéry)
for awhile i was doing one book a week. but for the time being, as i'm back in school and still working, my reading as of late is exclusively academic.
reading saves lives. (quite true considering my particular circumstances)
Current: my textbooks for skool w00t! (btw, nerds and geeks are HOT)
And when/if ever i can make the time: A Confederacy of Dunces (John Kennedy Toole), Riding in Cars with Boys (Beverly Donofrio), (JD Salinger), (Jane Austin), East of Eden (John Steinbeck), The Contortionist's Handbook (Craig Clevenger), What the Bleep Do We Know!? (William Arntz)

Heroes:

J.F.B for bailing me out, among other things.

Mr. Miagi, because he helped Daniel-san do it all for the glory of love...

of the animated variety, Strongbad, Samurai Jack, and the Tick.

and Last (II), Dennis.

(eureka! for my obvious exit .)
