This area will, from now on, list recent news items, links and announcements.

ANNOUNCEMENT: The West Bank Cafe has added a midnight showing of Joe Iconis' show with John Gallagher Jr and Krysta Rodriguez on the 19th. That too, like the 9:30 pm show, is almost sold out, so call soon if you're interested: 212.695.6909.

ANNOUNCEMENT: The producer of Old Spring's Pike show at SpiegelTent this summer is also producing a one night only benefit to help the Writer's Guild Strike Fund at Carnegie Hall with PATTI LUPONE, JEANINE GARAFOLO AND SETH MCFARLANE from The Family Guy on Jan 31st. It's an evening of comedy and songs for mature audiences only. He is offering Spring Awakening fans a 25% discount. Check it out at http://files.spotnyc.com/files/JERR666/blast/FOSw001/FOSw001 _Gen.html

ANNOUNCEMENT: If any Duncan Sheik/Spring Awakening fans are in the CO area, please message me if you might be interested in helping to street team for Duncan Sheik's concerts in the Rocky Mountains. Dates for the concerts are listed in the calendar. There will, of course, be perks involved to street team volunteers. Thanks!

ANNOUNCEMENT: The Spring Awakening companion book will hit stores in September 2008, and we would love to include your voices in our book. So write and tell us what moves you about the show: Is it an actor's performance? The lyrics of one of the songs? The story? How does the show relate to your life? Who's the character that you most respond to? Anything you want to share, we'd love to read. And we might even reprint part of your text in our book. Send your emails to [email protected]: If your text is selected for use in the book, we'll email you and ask if you'd like to be credited and ask you to sign a release. It can be any length (though to the point is preferred), and deadline is Feb 7, 2008.

Influences: FAQ's

1) HOW DO I AUDITION FOR THIS SHOW? Open casting calls are now over and we already have our touring cast (and boy, are we excited for you to see them!), but we are still very much welcoming of video auditions for future Broadway and tour replacements. We've made it easy for you. Go to: http://www.springawakening.com/videoauditionsubmission/ Make sure your submission is less than 500 MB. Your screen should change and you should get a confirmation that says your submission has been received. Alternatively, you can also snail mail your DVD to: JIM CARNAHAN, SPRING AWAKENING c/o Roundabout Theatre Co 231 W 39th Street Suite 1200 New York, N.Y. 10018.

For news on auditions for the potential London production, go to: http://www.springawakening.co.uk/

2) HOW CAN I SEND FAN MAIL TO THE CAST? You can write to the cast c/o the theatre: *Actor's Name*, c/o Eugene O'Neil Theatre, 230 W. 49th St. NY, NY 10019. The cast is extremely busy and we cannot guarantee a response, but they are usually pretty good about responding, especially when a self addressed stamped envelope is provided. Suspicious packages and articles of food sent through the mail may not be delivered to the intended recipient. We cannot honor requests for Playbills etc to be signed and mailed back.

3) HOW DO I BUY ONSTAGE SEATS? On stage seats go fast because they are cheaper than orchestra seats and because it offers a completely different experience. Currently, they are sold out until the end of December. We will announce on the upcoming calendar section when on stage seats for January go on sale to the general public. The best way to ensure you score on-stage seats is to sign up for our fansite http://fanclub.springawakening.com . Members of the fansite will be given priority access to a number of onstage seats 48 hours before they go on sale to the general public. You will also get an email notification when tickets become available, but act fast! If you havn't seen the show yet, we recommend you see it from the house the first time. You get a lot of people's backs when you sit onstage.

4) HOW LONG WILL (enter Actor's name here) BE IN THE SHOW? WILL THERE BE ANY UNDERSTUDIES PERFORMING ON (enter date here)? We will never announce this information ahead of time except through official press releases in the event of a major cast change. Please don't ask me. You might get more information from fans on our forums who have talked with the actors at the stage door, such as the Journal section of the fansite or Guiltyones.org. The only thing we've announced officially is that Jonathan Groff and Lea Michele have extended their contracts and will be in the show until at least May of 2008.

5) WHEN IS THE NATIONAL TOUR? Our North American tour will kick off September 8th, 2008 through October 12th, 2008 at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco. We have just finished casting our national tour and are so excited for the world to see the amazing talent we have assembled. An announcement will be made shortly. Other cities on the tour are currently being finalized. Now is the time to write/email your local regional theatre that usually brings in Broadway tours and let them know that they MUST bring this show to your town. The tour is being organized by On The Road Booking, the same company responsible for the tours of Movin' Out, Hairspray, and The Producers. http://www.ontheroadbooking.com/index.php There are plans for productions in the United Kingdom, Spain, Tel Aviv, Israel, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Japan, Korea and Sydney, Australia. No more information at this time.

6) HOW DO I GET THE SHEET MUSIC?

You can Pre-order it by Clicking Here to Amazon.com (if link does not work, go to www.amazon.com and enter product code: 1423431332). There have been delays, but I have it good authority that it is nearing completion and should be out by the end of Dec or the beginning of Jan 08. It may also be pre-ordered by calling (800) 637-2852 or by visiting www.musicdispatch.com.

You can also purchase the Tony-winning Libretto (book) here:
"Amazon.com Libretto

7) IS MERCHANDISE AVAILABLE ONLINE? A limited selection is available at broadway.newyork.com. They just got a new shipment of souvenir programs. We're planning on offering fan discounts at our fansite soon.

8) I HAVE THE CD BUT HAVN'T SEEN THE SHOW. WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON? Wikipedia provides the most comprehensive plot synopsis: Plot Synopsis

9) I BOUGHT THE CD ON ITUNES. IS THERE A PLACE I CAN GET THE LYRICS? Go here: Get Lyrics at AllMusic.com

10) CAN YOU ADD SOME MORE MUSIC TO THE SITE? Sorry, additional songs have not been approved by the copyright holders. For now, click here to go to PROJECT PLAYLIST to add our music on your page

11) WHAT'S A 'PURPLE SUMMER?" The song is meant to be poetic and not literal, therefore it is open to interpretation, but in general terms, this song is about hope and renewal, about the cycle of life, and about moving forward by learning from past mistakes. The innocence and exuberance of Spring (youth) moving into bruised but wiser Summer (adulthood). Purple Summer is also a type of flower.

12) WHERE ELSE CAN I GO TO GET MY SPRING AWAKENING FIX? Aside from this page, you can also visit our official sister FACEBOOK SITE: I Believe in Spring Awakening . There is also a fan forum, run by fans, for fans, at TheGuiltyOnes.org . You can also get free downloads, see exclusive content, participate in contests and join the discussion forum at our fansite: http://fanclub.springawakening.com

13) WHO RUNS THIS SITE?? Hiya. My name's Pun and I'm so glad you're here. I am connected with the production, and this site is the production's way of supplying the latest information to our fans as well as a way for you to interact with us. This is a word of mouth show, and we wouldn't be here without you guys. The people who will truly appreciate this show are smart and sophisticated, and we value your input. I've tried to make this site as informative and interactive as possible and hopefully create a sense of community. Feel free to message me about anything. We are humbled by your dedication to the show.
