The Queen of Hearts stumbled her way frantically through the maze in search of her red roses... she just wanted to pick a few, to smell their sweetness, without getting pricked on the thorns.
As she turned a corner she stumbled upon the Dead End King. The look on his face was somewhat startled, but his eyes were warm and gentle. "No, no, you mustn't stumble along this way my Queen, this is not your path, infact this will only land you in the Dead End Kingdom, and you do not belong there. Turn around now and continue on your way!"
The Queen of Hearts was somewhat confused, for before her stood a creature of such perfection and purity, and through she knew she did not belong where he belonged, she couldn't resist the urge to reach out her pale hand and touch his face, for her heart was bearing a tune so sweet it could open all her blood red roses.
But when the Queen touched the Dead End King's heart shaped face, she was met with a coldness so sad. Her fingertips started to freeze over and turn pale blue and slowly her veins began to shiver.
Bit by bit the Queen of Hearts froze over. Only her pure green eyes moved and questioned the Dead End King with confusion as to her fragile state.
"My Queen you were warned." Those were the only words the King could say.
Gently, one by one tears started to roll out of her pretty eyes, and each tear melted her ice form more and more. The Queen was slowly disappearing in front of the Dead End King.
And he stood there watching her melt. A pain slowly forming in his heart. The King dropped to his knees and wrapped his arms around the melting Queen, but that only made her drip more.
"Why did you not turn around my queen, when I warned you?" the King said, his voice choking slightly. He heard her breath on the tip of his ear loab, "I only wanted to show you how roses smell, my love." And then she melted... away.
