"THE CAKE "- 60'S GIRL GROUP - OFFICIAL SITE

About Me

This site about THE CAKE is dedicated to the memory of JEANETTE JACOBS-WOOD, the slice of THE CAKE who passed away far, far too young.
and to
CHARLIE GREENE (RIP)
-our producer, manager and 'soul' of 'The Cake'
without him and Brian Stone
this page would not be in existence.

THE CAKE was formed at Steve Paul's THE SCENE in New York City, circa 1966. We were managed by Greene & Stone, recorded 2 LPs for Decca Records at Goldstar Studios, Hollywood,CA. At that time we were with the William Morris agency and our agent was Herb Nanas. We wrote a lot of our own music and sang it acapella to anyone who would listen! We have many musician friends from those days, especially Jimi Hendrix (RIP), Kevin Ayers, Eric Burden, Robbie Robertson - to name a few.
Barbara Morillo has continued to sing with other groups, including BARBARA MORILLO & THE SHRINE.
Jeanette Jacobs-Wood sang with GINGER BAKER's AIRFORCE, THE NIGHTTRIPPERS and DR JOHN
Chelsea Lee sang with GINGER BAKER's AIRFORCE, TETSU YAMAUCHI, DR JOHN, THE NIGHTTRIPPERS and many more.
THE CAKE sang background on "Why Are We Sleeping" on THE SOFT MACHINE's first album.
Chelsea was in a film produced by Peter Yarrow called YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT and sings "I Got You Babe" with Tiny Tim while THE BAND is playing the music.
