These are the incomparable Shangri-Las performing on "Shindig!" in 1965. I had the pleasure of seeing lead singer Mary Weiss perform this summer in NYC and spoke with Her after the show!! (I'm still recovering from that!)Another one of my favorite groups is The Cake (not to be confused with "Cake"). In the last couple of years I've become great friends with beautiful blonde Chelsea Lee, who I keep urging to write a book about her group and her life! This is an appearance on the Smothers Brothers Show, late 1960s. They should have been bigger than they were. Personally, I think they were too far ahead of their time.These are The Flirtations, giving the Supremes a run for their money in 1969. Though they were originally from South Carolina, they set up base in England where this promo clip was filmed. Where in England is anyone's guess. My friend Chelsea of The Cake is British royalty, so I'll ask her the next time we speak.Here's a group called The Parfays performing on the TV show "Shivaree", probably 1965. Who they were is a mystery as there is next to no info about them anywhere. Still, I'll take them over the Pussycat Dolls anyday.
