JLrecordz provides an opportunity for people to enjoy quality music at its best. Our company dares to enhance its professional and artistic qualification as businessmen and entertainers. In today's increasingly changing music market, JLR's competitiveness and strive for quality, offers a broad spectrum of music for all cultures, therefore continuously bring music back to the community. Hard work and Quality is our code.Toxik is a big fan of hip hop/rap music and first considered becoming a professional entertainer when a close friend of his, Numbrz(CEO of JL Recordz), heard him freestyle. Before that day he would just freestyle for fun but never actually considered making a living by becoming an entertainer. Now he writes everyday to perfect his craft. He has only been rapping for 2 years and is developing faster than other artists. Some of his childhood favourites range from LL Cool J to Naughty by Nature. He has always been drawn to the hip hop culture. His first completed project with JL Recordz was ,"The New Chapter of JL's Finest, mixtape" at that time he was known as "Scholar". He had 2 solo tracks and a collaboration effort with label mates Hazard aka Haz and Nah'ledge aka D. Jones. The mixtape was set for release in July 2004. Since then other ventires have been taking off. He has many goals that he is currently pursuing as an artist as well as an executive in the game. JL Recordz latest release is "THE MOVEMENT". This is a compilation that displays all of the artists currently on the JL roster and is a must have. He is currently working with some of the hottest production in Toronto and some of the hottest artists around. He states that some of his musical influences are Nas, Lil Wayne, Biggie, Fabolous, Big pun, Cassidy, and Lupe Fiasco. With Nas, Pac and Biggie they have the ability to touch on various topics (other than guns, cars and jewellry), and paint a picture with words. Fabolous, because of his clever word play and Pun because he's a nasty lyricist. Cassidy because of his hard hitting metaphoric punch lines. Toxik is an underrated artist. You have to really listen to his music to understand his sharp metaphors. He has the ability to think outside the box and reflects this in his music. Like Jay-Z, he's more than an artist but a businessman. He has a unique style of rapping as he blends different flows and adapts to various types of production. He's been living on the southside of Jane Street(Toronto) for most of his life. Brown Bricks is where he was raised and also spent a lot of his childhood at Falstaff. Wanting to make a difference and give back to the community, he acquired a Bachelor's degree in Business Economics. He is not your average music industry artist/exec.
