I wish I was more interesting -Emma Goldman

About Me

At the tender age of four, walking down the streets late at night, I happened upon an older man. "You got a cigarette?" he asked. Sitting on the stoop next to him, I gave him my second to last cigarette and lit it for him. We stared at the stars for a couple of minutes, and then he turned to me, exhaling smoke in my direction like a beaten dragon. "I'm homeless, you know," he said, "I have no place to go, and no connections." I nodded. I had assumed as much. "I've walked these streets a thousand times," he continued, "and in my day I saw the world over. The lights on Picadilly Square. The stoic images of the Sistine Chapel. The timeless Oracle at Delphi. I walked the streets of ancient kings and I saw the fields where epic battles were fought. I came home to find that my wife had left me, had sold our house and taken our children beyond my reach." I lit a cigarette of my own. His eyes were glossy with tears, staring into the streetlamp across the street. We exhaled at the same time. "Oh, to love and be loved," he sighed. I sighed too. I also had no home.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
