Tommy The Mush

I am a singer/songwriter performing most of the time as a solo artiste but when playing regular venues I am sometimes joined by others who make up a hodge-podge band - The Mushy Peas - it's exciting and scary cos you never know what is going to happen next. I love flying by the seat of my pants, just an adrenaline junkie I guess, born to the 5 r's - Raw, Rough and Ready Rock n Roll

Music has been a passion since I was very young. I remember one night as a kid how my grandmother put a large wooden box on the table. She took the lid off to reveal a round green surface and a big gold horn. Taking a thin black disc she laid it on the green baize. There was a handle on the side that she turned a few times. Then she flicked a switch and the black disc started spinning. Another bit of the contraption was an arm with a needle sticking from the bottom of it. She lifted the arm and placed the needle onto the disc - the sound of rock n roll. My heart started thumping. I couldn't stand still, my body just wanted to twitch and jump and shake. They call it dancing I suppose. My world was changed. I knew what I wanted to do, to make that sound and dance. In the early days Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, Marty Wilde, Gene Vincent, all in the mix, but my favourites were Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis
