About Me
Jörgen P Karlsson
artist, living/working in Karlstad, Sweden.
I like to throw myself into painting, drawing, photography, video, installations, words and mixed media. Whatever I feel like doing. Trying to live now, art is now, and art is life. Art is rock..n roll.
Influences & heroes in Art:
Alberto Burri, Gerard Richter, Merlin Carpenter, Jackson Pollock, Sigmar Polke, Ola Billgren, Robert Rauschenberg, Wols, Annika Von Hausswolff, Leon Golub, Larry Clarke, Shirin Neshat, George Metzger, Andy Warhol, Gary Hume, Joseph Beuys, Dan Wolgers, Clyfford Still, Martin Kippenberger, Anish Kapoor...as a few examples...
The other one of my two greatest passions in life, is music. Been in a couple of bands, mostly in the heavier genre. I started out as a bassplayer, then bass/lead vocals, before I finally let go of the bass and gave in completely to singing. Loved it! I am currently the lead singer in a coverband called Fuel For Heroes, playing at partys. Great fun, definitely! Gotta love the stage! Not much can beat the feeling you get from a wild crowd, singing along and rocking their brains out!
Alongside the heavy rock stuff, I used to like writing acoustic songs, on my own. Never took that material to a stage though, but it gave me something just making that stuff. Me, my thoughts and my guitar.
I am still a lot into heavy, semi-aggressive music, but nowadays I..m also a real sucker for female singer/songwriters...soothing. Need the balance, I suppose.
