Detroit Rock City, High Fidelity, Back to the Future (the WHOLE trilogy is brilliant, so shutup you part 1 and 3 Nazis), Groundhog Day, Anything Kevin Smith does I giggle at (that's not a title...by that I mean Mallrats, Dogma, Clerks etc...but not Jersey Girl...altho it WAS hilarious to watch Ben Affleck try to act), Hot Shots!, Crackerjack, Witches Of Eastwick, Muriel's Wedding, The Castle, Indiana Jones (see Back to the Future comment above - the pinball machine is also awesome), The Godfather Parts I & II (cos part III really does suck hairy donkey's balls), Three Colours trilogy (hmm..theme appearing), Amores Perros, All About My Mother, Talk to Her, Volver (go see it)!, 21 Grams, Lord of the Rings (yes, trilogy), Goodbye Lenin!, Shawshank Redemption, Mystic River, Underworld, Mystery Men, Zoolander, Little Miss Sunshine, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (go and watch it as an adult. Im serious....weeeeee!!), Sword in the Stone, Shrek, Metallica: Some Kind of Monster (proof of why they suck so badly now)..and cos I'm a girly man..The Joy Luck Club, Forrest Gump, Beaches and the Notebook. I tried really hard not to like them and sit there for 3 hours apiece - but I did.
Television:
Still reading this? You loser haha. I enjoy many animated comedies such as the unholy trinity of South Park, Family Guy and the mightee Simpsons. Futurama gets a look in but it's a big rip-off in heaps of respects. Also Scrubs, Black Books, Little Britain (call me Bubbles dahling..fuckin hilarious), Buffy, Nip/Tuck, The Sopranos, Sex and the City (altho I dont agree with at least 50% of what they say...the writing is gold), Captain Planet, Press Gang, SuperTed, Bananaman, Arrested Development (words cannot describe - it is pure genius), Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Iron Chef, and anything the History or Crime cable channels seduce me into. Brides in the Bath murders? I'm stayin' in tonight!
Books:
Lots of crime...mostly true crime because it's the most oddly appealing. So I have alot of ancient real life case books. Although James Ellroy (L.A. Confidential, the Black Dahlia) is a big exception to the rule that most crime fiction novelists blow, appealing to the ignorant masses who now all believe they could work a crime scene with killer clevage because of C.S.I.!! Phew. I also like Frank McCourt, J.K. Rowling, Stephen King (the Stand is a complete masterpiece), the more Shakespeare the better (as McCourt said, it's like having jewels in your mouth when you speak the Bard's words), Helen Fielding, Lionel Shriver, Kate Atkinson and Alice Sebold. My two fave books are: We Need To Talk About Kevin - Shriver & The Lovely Bones - Sebold. If you've read them or heard of them, you'll instantaneously know how fucked up I really am.
Heroes:
Heroes are for eight year old girls who should be idolising Britney Spears. But unfortunately, she's now a skinhead mentalcase and they're left to look up to Christina Aguilera and The Pussy Dolls. For shame.Although I should name my Nan, as she is 81, has two steel hips and still walks around.
