About Me

I grew up in a very musical family. My Mom's side, to be more specific. Everybody loved to sing and BOTH of my parents have great taste in music, so there was always Beatles or Steely Dan to get my hands on as a youngster. I fell in love with the Grateful Dead upon first contact. After a couple of years realizing that college wasn't my bag, I moved to West Chester, PA to form the band, DOUBLE DOSE with 2 guys who swiftly became my best friends. We became quite popular in the local scene, starting in dives and eventually playing big B clubs and a few A clubs, as well. Although we did a LOT of Grateful Dead tunes, we got to a point where we played about 50%-60% originals at our gigs and people were requesting them all the time...it was good. Unfortunately, shit happens and the band members started growing apart from each other. FORTUNATELY, I met a beautiful woman - the love of my life - and we married, had a beautiful baby girl in 2000 and that year, we all moved back to the 'Burgh. THEN in 2003, we were blessed with twin boys! The family life was ROCKIN'. But, the music was not. Going from playing several gigs per week to none at all turned out to be something my body could not handle. SO, I booked myself some solo gigs and some duets to get myself recognized...hoping to meet more musicians, taking the "Field Of Dreams" approach ("If you play, they will come"). And they did. I met a great keyboardist in Mike Tony, who plays with the Pgh.-based Dead band, Fungus and he introduced me to Mike South and David Tauberg...the former, a wonderfully creative drummer and soundman extraordinaire - the latter a bassist with an amazing angle on music. After forming theCAUSE (www.thecausejams.com), and exhausting 3 or so female vocalists, we found the extremely lovely & talented Ali Schelin and she has been with us eversince. All 4 of these people have quickly become my best friends and I am having the time of my life, musically. All I can hope is to keep enjoying what I'm doing and if others find enjoyment in it, as well - I couldn't ask for anything more.
I created my own profile using nUCLEArcENTURy.COM and you should too!

My Interests

Anything creative. I love it when someone turns me on to something I may have not otherwise noticed and I find myself engulfed in its creativity and genuine effort.

I'd like to meet:

The surviving members from The Beatles and Grateful Dead, as well as Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Howard Stern, Donald Fagen, Walter Becker, Stephen Stills, Neil Young, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Bela Fleck...

Music:

Obvious: Grateful Dead, Beatles, Steely Dan, Bela & the Flecktones. Not-So-Obvious: Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Lionel Hampton, Bluegrass for days, big band swing. Most recent turn-ons: SoniaDada and Southern Culture On The Skids (both bands kick total ass, if you've yet to hear them).

Movies:

All-time favorite: The Wizard Of Oz. Other favorites: Any Mel Brooks, anything with Lemmon & Matthau.

Television:

2 Favorite shows are "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report," but I confess, I'm also a big fan of "Desperate Housewives" and "Grey's Anatomy" - two chick shows...but very funny & well-written chick shows. Any hockey game I can get on my TV.

Books:

"Sometimes A Great Notion" by Ken Kesey...thanks, Mick. Currently reading, "The God Delusion," by Richard Dawkins...it rocks.

Heroes:

My Dad, my Mom, my Brother, my Wife. Jerry Garcia, John Lennon, Frank Zappa, Howard Stern, Michael Greene.

The Other Shoe...

Well, it's a crappy analogy..."the other shoe," (unless, of course, you happen to have 3 feet).  I've been curious to see if the old addage, "Good things happen in threes," would be accurate...an...
