A True Texan!

About Me

Do you have your Halo on?

My Purpose:

I'm still flying solo at this time. I have been playing guitar for 18 years and writing songs for over 9 years. I am currently working on recording my first album (finally going to put it all down!). I am looking for some musicians to form a live performing band. I'm a musician at heart stuck in the poor man's rat race! I gave up my dream to live a "normal" life, but my dream hasnt given up on me! I have decided to persue my dream. I am looking for some serious talent to find a use for some of my best material. I have been writing songs and lyrics for 9 years and would love the right opportunity to come along and expose the world to my hidden art. Contact me if you would like to help a blue collar musician/songwriter get noticed and finally live my dream! Email me at [email protected] if you are interested in joining a start up band. It is 2008 now and I have put this project off for far to long!

My Musical Journey and Education:

How it all started!:

I started playing guitar at age 11! (I begged my parents to buy a guitar for 3 years prior to age 11. My mom always told me, "Why do you want to play that rock & roll noise metal of death junk"? She would say, "Why don't you learn to play the piano like your Grandfather [By the way, Eugene Zaboth - my grandfather - was the freaking man on Jazz Piano - no joke! - I love you and miss you Grandpa Rest In Peace!]? Everytime I asked [no begged] her and my father about a guitar for my birthday, or Christmas, the answer was an absolute no way! I would promise her that I would follow through and would learn the guitar! Still the answer was no! I finally was beginning to accept the fact that I was going to have to wait a few more years until I could get a job and buy my own guitar. The school year ended that year and my birthday came around. My mom and dad asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I told them. "Mom, Dad, there is only one thing I want in this world and if you get it for me, I will never ask either of you for anything ever. ever...ever... again"! Once again, I was shot down in flames and told that they did not want me to play the guitar because it was not an instrument that I could play in the School Band and if I wanted to play, that I should play the Trumpet or Trombone like my two older brothers. I told them that a guitar is a real instrument and that the guitar had probably been around longer than any of those stupid instruments (hope no one gets offended, but I really wanted that electric guitar and I love all music and anything that helps to make it). Then I told them that I had no intention of playing in a school band, that I wanted to start my own band and be on MTV and the radio. They still said no to my only request. I was beginning to lose all hope. I just knew that I would learn to play it if they would only get my one! --- The funny thing, I wanted a cheap old JC Penny Electric Guitar with the built in AMP, you know that black one you saw in the catalog when you were a kid?

Then, My Dream Came True!:

My oldest brother Wade was always my hero and the brother I looked up to the most when I was a kid. He always did the coolest things and took care of his little brother. I believe it was August or July (after my 11th birthday) and my oldest brother Wade was living in High Point, North Carolina. I had not seen him in a couple of years and he offered to fly me up there to meet his new wife and step son. I was excited about going to see him because I knew he had not one, but two guitars and AMP! I knew I was going to at least get to mess with one for a couple weeks. Pretty much from the minute I walked in the door and met everybody, to the day before I was scheduled to leave, I tried to play that Aria Pro II as much as I possibly could (Sorry if I caused any of you to lose you hearing). Im sure my new sister-in-law was ready for little brother Mark to get back home...lol! The night before I left, I told Wade how much I liked that guitar and that mom and dad just wouldn't get me one no matter what I did. I asked him to talk to mom and tell her to get me one just like his! Either I was his favorite little brother (there are four boys...my poor mother), or he really felt sorry about my guitar story (I think he called my mom and asked her if I had been asking for a guitar for the last three years). When I got up the next morning my new sister-in-law had packed my suitcase and put it by the door (she was past ready for my noise making ass to get back to Texas where I belonged...lol) but what was that beside my suitcase! My brother had a smile from ear-to-ear and I think I about had a heart attack when he told me, "I really don't play that one much any more since Julie bought me this Gibson Les Paul (I should have been pushing for that one) and if you really want to learn to play the guitar, then I want you to have this one, but you better learn to play that guitar or Im gonna take it back"! I know deep down inside he knows how much that meant to me then and especially later in life (hell even now as I type this in my profile I remember how happy I was that day). That was with out a single doubt my happiest childhood memory! I left North Carolina with my first guitar. It was an Aria Pro II (knock off Ibanez I believe) with a hummbucker and two single coil pickups. It had a three way pick up selector, a maple fretboard, and was like a Pearl White color. In addition, he gave me a 25 Watt KMD Practice AMP that had Distortion, Bass, Treble, Mid, and a clean channel option. It was more than most guitar players get for their first instument.---- Wade, if you are reading this, I love you man and when (or if) I ever make it, I will pay you back for your kindness and being such a good brother to me and making my dreams come true! That one gesture bought you a lifetime of me holding my tongue when we do not see eye to eye!

What Happened Next!:

I learned to play my basic chords and to be able to site read from a chord chart in about 6 months (I played every single day for at least 3 or more hours). The first song I learned was "Smoke on the Water". The first complete song (with both guitar parts and leads) was Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters". Yes, I am a self taught musician (for the most part.... I may have taken 40 total hours of lessons in my entire life....maybe..). Like many young guitarists, I started out playing Metallica, Slayer, ACDC, Iron Maiden, Pantera, etc. Then at 13 I started learning Jazz, Blues, and Country. I started dabbling in keyboards and Pianos when I was 15 and never really followed through, but can play in the studio if neccessary. I started writing my own songs at age 16 (yeah some of them really sucked back then) and playing in an "after school special kind of band" as the guitarist and back ground vocals. In my senior year, I did a walk on audition for the San Marcos High School Jazz Band. It turns out that before I auditioned for the spot, the director had a meeting with all the other students. He told them that I couldn't read music so he didnt think I was going to make the cut. He told them that he was going to let them decide (based on my performance) if I would be a part of their group. Needless to say I "rocked the house". During that year I won several Outstanding Jazz Musicians awards, and Outstanding Jazz Improv Soloist awards. I learned a lot from that type of music and coming from a Rock and Roll back ground Country, Blues, and Jazz started sounding more and more interesting. At 18 I dove heavy into County and Blues and started covering country and blues songs to help me learn the style of music. By the 19 I was the lead singer for the band "Criminal Element". When I wasn't with them, I was working on my country and blues music and all the time writing as many songs as I could. By age 20 a producer from Columbia records was interested in coming to the studio that we were recording in and listening to us play live for him and his review panel. As fate would have have our drummer (who had recently knocked up his girlfriend), was given an ultimatum to either leave the band or have nothing to do with his daughter for the rest of her life. He sold his drums and quit the band two days before the scheduled event! I took a year off from doing shows and being in a band after that and just jammed out with every musician that was willing to jam in Central Texas. I was searching for the ultimate band members and a completely new style of music. From that moment to now I have played lead guitar, bass, and been a lead singer in almost every band I have been in. I am currently looking to find a band that wants to make great music and fun playing it!

COMING SOON:

Mark Sebby's Debut Album!

MY DEBUT ALBUM:

"Lost Time"!This will be a demo of my five favorite songs! They will be listed on the album in the order in which they were originally written. Here is an idea I have for a cover of the Album and I think I will probably title the album "Lost Time" for all the time I have wasted not doing this earlier in life!

For example:

Track 1 will be "Women Are Evil":

which was written in the living room of Patrick McDaniels (the stained glass artist from San Marcos, Texas) when we were extremely intoxicated and both had just lost or broke up with our girlfriends at the time. This song was played live on my pirate radio show "The Wake and Bake" (back in the days of KIND RADIO! Man I miss doing the shows) When Pat McDaniels insisted that I had to play that song on the radio. It has come along a little bit more from its original inception but still carries its tone and message well!

Track 2: "On My Way Down":

was written in the back of my truck at a keg party on the San Marcos River somewhere between San Marcos and Martindale (can't seem to remember exactly where). This was that after graduating from High School Blues that I got and had to write about it. It is about coming from bottom knowing you can get to the top, rising up almost to the top, and ending up back at the bottom again. Funny how life is!

Track 3: "Last Dance":

is a song I wrote about the girl that everyone has wanted at one point in their life (and maybe even had just one night with her) but that is as far as they got. The problem is that you can never forget her and you wish you had one last chance...or in this ditty dance!

Track 4: "My Carolina":

is a song I wrote from my personal experiences that came about from my two year vacation from Texas. I swore I would never come back down here and about a year and a half after I left I came back to visit friends and realized that San Marcos (Hays County, Austin, Maxwell, hell anywhere in Central Texas) is, was, and will always be (feel) my home. Ya'll mark my words cause this one will be a top 40 hit!

Track 5: "Damn Women":

is my most recent creation and came out pretty smoothly without a million revisions! Its a pitty poor me and us men song; so the guys are gonna love it and the women will curse it. In the song I talk about how great things are in the beginning and how much fun it is to fall in love; knowing that after a period of time it all changes!I have other songs to record, but these will be the first ones you will all get to hear! I am shooting for a release date of December 2008! If it happens sooner then I will be even happier! Any of you talent scouts want to give me a free recording session in your studio or hear a song...let me know! Thanks for reading.... I can not wait to share my CD with each and every one of you and get my music out there for all to hear!!Get your layout at PimpMySpaceCodes.net

Band Members:Mark Sebby - Guitar, Lead Guitar, Bass, Vocals, Background Vocals, everything for right now! Need a band or some people to form a band!Maybe You - Looking for members.... I am currently looking for some musicians to jam with initially and see if we can click! If we click, I really need some great band members. Im looking for 110% from each and every member! I want to have fun, but I also am dead set on making this work! I have been with several different bands and have played several different instruments! I would like to have the opportunity to play my own leads but the flexibility to focus on the vocals when it is necessary and let my other guitar player handle the riffs! I need a mellow bass player with a small wild side. I need a drummer who can be creative and keep in contained! I would also like someone who can keep a straight beat! I would be interested in a horn section in the future, but would not mind getting together to make some music. Although I would like to hurry up and find the perfect band, I know that is probably going to take some time. If you would like to get together and check me out or just play some music. Hit me up! I am ready to give the world my heart and soul!
