Bio
Ever since emerging songstress Sariya Jones first joined Bancroft Elementary's choir at age seven, she knew she wanted to be a star. "Of course I had those butterflies in the beginning," Sariya remembers. "But once I felt the music touch me, I knew at that moment what I was meant to do with my life." Always wanting to be the center of attention Sariya joined in every single school play and talent show. Sariya won 1st place in the talent shows and was in leading rolls in musicals such as "The Sound of Music" "Nutcracker" and "Grease."
Sariya would always doodle in class drawing pictures of her self on stage and writing lyrics to songs. No one took her seriously but Sariya was determined to prove them wrong. At the age of 8 with nothing but a notepad and a tape player Sariya would write her own songs, by 14 Sariya met Concord rapper Subliminal who gave her a chance to record one of her songs "Stay tonight." Sariya excited about her accomplishment was eager to record more. Sariya would record with whoever had a mic and a place. She would write constantly, always carrying around her notepad jotting down ideas when she was in school. This caused her trouble with her grades but Sariya's heart was some ware else.
Sariya's professional life behind the mic began with a series of chance encounters. Meeting people also interested in music gave her a foot in the door. Sariya was soon in the studios where she wrote songs and recorded demos. Soon finding the rite people to work with Sariya began putting together her first album. Though this is Sariya's first album it will not be the last.
