The Geek Shall Inherit the Earth

About Me

About Gromit:A self employed Web Designer in Canterbury, UK. Just plodding through life enjoying the breeze.Photography, Art, Design and Film are parts of my life that I could not survive without. As is my trusty but dusty guitar, Erik. I'm not particularly good at any of these pastimes, but I'm content with aspiring towards being a "jack of all trades, master of none".I've had the nickname "Gromit" for about 8 or 9 years now. Two of my ever-lovely friends nicknamed me after the Nick Park character amidst a post-student smoky haze. The name stuck and I soon found it creeping into my working life as my design colleagues found out about it. If you're confused as to what I'm talking about, have a look at the video to the left...I'm the dog apparently.Gromit Photos: (occasionally this gets stuck on 2 or 3 photos, I think its yet another myspace bug - if this is the case, click here for the photos )

My Interests

Design, film, music, art, photography...any pass-times with a pulse, any sport I can play without getting my head kicked in, any person I can relate to.

I'd like to meet:

Who Gromit Wants To Meet: YOU! No no, not you! You at the back!

Music:

blues, jazz, 60s soul, indie, grunge, rock, funk

Movies:

All films in all genres...although I do have a few favourite directors (Tarantino, Michael Mann, Sergio Leone & Kevin Smith being a few) Movies are an obsession to me, collecting DVDs is more addictive than crack. I'm fast becoming a film uber-nerd and I no longer care ;)

Television:

24, Lost, Deadwood, 30 days, My name is Earl, Frasier

Books:

Anything engaging. I don't get a great deal of time to read nowadays so if a book hasn't engaged me in the first 50 pages it will be put down and forgotten for a few months.

The last book to really get me excited about reading was "The Time Traveller's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger...if you haven't read it yet, you must!

Heroes:

Polly Harvey, Dave Gilmour, Bill Bailey, BB King, Joe Cocker, John Coltrane, Quentin Tarantino, Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, Michael Mann, Neil Young, Van Morrisson, Dave Grohl, Will Ferrell, Eddie Izzard, Hank Azaria, Morgan Spurlock, Bill Paxton, John Mayall, Ry Cooder, Peter Kay, Douglas Adams, Michael Palin and of course Nick Park.

Nick Park's incredible creations, Wallace and Gromit:

The genius that is Bill Bailey talking us through the music of Starsky and Hutch:
