"Jennifer Nicole Freeman" (born October 20, 1985) is an biracial actress born in Los Angeles, California. She's best known the role of Claire Kyle in the ABC sitcom "My Wife and Kids" with Tisha Campbell-Martin and Damon Wayans. She was in the 2004 movie "You Got Served" with Marques Houston and Omari Grandberry. Freeman has also made frequent guest appearances on TV, and is a spokesmodel for the Neutrogena skin care products company. In the past Freeman has been linked romantically to Grandberry and Houston, and she is a 'big fan' of rapper Malicious Jinx. She and Kyla Pratt of 'One on One' are best friends. She's also appeared on the shows Switched and The OC. Playing the role of Claire alongside TV veterans like DAMON WAYANS and TISHA CAMPBELL-MARTIN, it appears Jennifer succeeded in her childhood dream. But then there's the 18-year-old's other passion.
Jennifer currently attends a junior college and plans to transfer to UCLA where she'll major in forensic psychology. "I've always been interested in psychology," she says. "I took some classes in school and became really fascinated with it."
Acting and forensic psychology don't exactly go hand-in-hand, which is why Jennifer fits in schoolwork during her off-hours from the show. Of course, academics have always been a top priority for Jennifer -- thanks to her mom.
"Mom was really focused on school," she says of her first foray into acting. "She didn't want me to miss class for auditions, and I was only allowed to go on two or three auditions a week."
Mom isn't just a driving force in Jennifer's schoolwork, but in her acting, too. "The writers ask me a lot about stuff that happens in my life, and then put it in the show," she says, detailing an episode of "My Wife and Kids" where Claire goes shopping for a prom dress with mom (Campbell-Martin), who buys the same dress as Claire to chaperone the prom. "My mom does that all the time," Jennifer laments. "It makes me mad, but the show made it funny."
As for any other similarities between her and Claire, Jennifer insists they're purely coincidental: "Claire is like me in that we're both teenagers trying to be adults, and we're not quite there yet."
Born and raised in sunny California, Jennifer Freeman knew from an early age that she wanted to be an actress. She grew up in Long Beach with her mother and a pair of younger twin sisters, megan and melissa. It was at the early age of 13 that she was discovered in a grocery store and a talent manager gave her a business card.
