Grobban

GROBBAN is a brand new band of Dutch origin consisting of five experienced musicians from the regions Twente, Arnhem and Utrecht.The music of GROBBAN is a mixture of melodic (country) rock, slightly alternative influences and lots of other different styles. Autumn 2006 they released their EPCD PERFECT JOY (ejmusicproductions,6002), with 4 brand new songs on it. For the major part the songs have been recorded ‘live’ with only a few overdubs. The songs on the album deal about big issues like divorce, a sentimental journey through time, war, peace and the eternal hunt for true happiness.All members of GROBBAN have a long history of studio and live-work and the two main songwriters Harry and Evert- Jan Banninga have obviously been influenced by artists like Crowded House, Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Mark Knopfler, Sting, U2, Marc Cohn and Keane. Bass player Wilbrand Meischke( Jan Akkerman Band,Xander de Buisonje) helped them out for the recording. He played the bass guitar on all four tracks.Three members come from Lighthouse and a few good men. With their CD FUEL, recorded in 2002, they received pretty good reviews in Music Maker for instance. The fresh and poppy songs did not remain unnoticed and as a result they did a lot of gigs, including a support-act for singer-songwriter Rich Wyman together with The Wild Romance.Now back to today: GROBBAN stands for professional, incorruptible reality pop alternated with tasteful and well matching covers.
