A Newtian Approach to Life...

About Me

To be normal, I am an 18 year old girl. To be more like myself, I am Newt. 18+ earth years don't really measure me, nor does the girl part. I lived in Victoria, BC, from Jan-May and am moving to Portland, OR, in August to live in a community house.Just to emphasize this point: my name is Newt. Some people think my name is Patti. It isn't. My name is Newt. It's called a chosen name, people, and it's very important to me. Do not call me Patti unless you have my permission. Thank you.I unschool, which means I learn when, what, and how I want to. This way, I haven't learned to hate learning because I've never been "forced" to learn like kids in public school are. I did go to some high school classes, but I got my GED in November 2005 and I attend the Centralia Community College from Jan 06-Dec 07. I loved it there. I'm just taking a break right now. Not Back To School Camp is a camp for unschoolers and is pretty much the most amazing place ever. I don't go there anymore because I'm old, but I'd love you to go, so talk to me if you want to know more about it! (You don't have to be an unschooler, but you should have that mindset).Ultimately, I believe in peace and that peace begins within ourselves.I've been labeled: introspective, intelligent, beautiful, odd, weird, inspiring, insane, young, an old soul, a sexy beast, different, a hippie, rebellious, smart, cute, eccentric, a trouble maker, a non-conformist, and other things.Creation is my life. Creation as in creating things. I am an artist. I dress like an artist, I think like an artist...it is my calling. What it is calling me to do is what I am struggling to realize. Color, shape and composition and the way it affects us fascinates me.Talk to me about: depression (5 years and counting), mood disorders, antidepressants and mood stablizers, therapy, sexuality, sex, GLBT stuff, pacifism, nonviolence, compassion, the power of love, writing, zines, unschooling, being young, funky/alt/old-school-hippie music, freckles, art, self-expression, cool but protective parents, cassette tapes, Amtrak, free writing, following your heart, Greyhound, honesty, good sibling relationships, living overseas, American sign language, changing your name, having friends with drug and/or abuse problems, thrift shops, sexual abuse, loving yourself...
