Destroy The Dialectic!!

About Me

I am deeply committed to a conception of reality; in which we can change things by altering the way we articulate ourselves and our perspectives. The way we speak about our ideals can be both reality shaking and enriching.I often become frustrated with people. This is not because I don’t care for others. I do, deeply. I become resentful and upset when we sell ourselves short or refuse to think about things in new ways. I want us to get on with evolving, and I want to have faith that we can overcome ourselves. I believe in empathy. I love philosophy, music, and red wine. Not necessarily in that order.

My Interests

Death, Music, Jump Rope (the swoosh sound amuses me to no end), Organization, Calvin & Hobbes, Receiving Massages, Rabbits, Art, Life, Philosophy, Dreams, Love, Flavored Tea From Second Cup, Reading, Family, Psychology, Guitar, Morality, Singing, Snow, Politics, Red Wine, First Kisses, Making Out, Religiosity, The Occult, Consciousness, Subconsciousness, Nutrition, Weightlifting, Arguing, The Olive Garden, Debate, Girls, Existentialism, Michelle, Bunnies, Experiences, Suffering, Sushi, Sexual Behaviour, Walking, Running, Rain, Leather, Spikes, Leather Spikes.

I'd like to meet:

I have aspirations of keeping my friends list down to strictly those I relate to and converse with in 'real life' or whatever they're calling it these days. Having said that, I'm reasonably friendly. If you would like to engage me in conversation, feel free. I'm open to making new friends. If you are a band, I will gladly listen to you, but please direct your attention and friend requests to the Anamnesis page, which is the musical endeavour that currently consumes a vast portion of my life. (That would be at www.myspace.com/anamnesisband )

Music:

Diversity is refreshing. Centrally, my iPod consists of classical music and metal. I'm open to anything and have fairly divergent tastes.

Television:

This September was my 3-year anniversary of getting rid of television. I’d recommend it to anyone. Turn it off and have a conversation. Read a book. Dance in the rain. Hug someone you love. Do anything but sit down like some sort of comatose vegetable in front of the flashing box of doom.

Books:

Currently: Discipline and Punish - Foucault, The Phenomenology of Spirit - Hegel, Genealogy of Morality - Nietzsche, Fear and Trembling - Soren Kierkegaard, Totem + Taboo - Freud, The Myth of Sysyphus - Camus, and On Jesus - Douglas Groothuis. That and all my Goddamn textbook reading.

Heroes:

Kill your idols. Mimetic desire shall be revealed.

This is probably not as funny as I think.

When I read, I write. It's generally just habitual, if I get my thoughts down, I don't forget them later.I was going through a bit that I was writing on the metaphysics of presence and radical hermene...

They're Probably Serving Snow Cones In Hell.

Yeah, I broke down and made my own MySpace page. It goes against most of what I am, but since I'm a Hegelian now, I suppose I have to encompass anything outside of my system and make it my own. Har ha...
