When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at will change.

About Me

This program is changing the way I think, therefore changing the way I live.I think the union of peanut butter and chocolate is deliciously brilliant. That being said, I have a fondness for mullets, velour track suits and you. Laughter and music get me through the day. And sometimes coffee. My job makes me smile. My cynicism is reality-based. My optimism most often isn't. I thrive on procrastination. I enjoy hearing people's stories. I enjoy my insomnia. I appreciate honesty. I appreciate creativity. I appreciate perspectives differing from my own. I like to think outside the box. I like word games, but not head games. I like to cheer for the underdog. Materialism breeds arrogance. I am not materialistic. I keep an open mind. I do my best not to judge. I try to be understanding. I am always learning. I am a work in progress.

My Interests

Poking hungry bears, teasing the elderly, making small children cry, competitive speed-walking, and nude table tennis

I'd like to meet:

People who actually have something to say and don't just want to add me to their ever-growing list of "friends". If you're a random person I don't already know in the real life, an email along with your friend request is appreciated. If there was a section called "I Would NOT Like to Meet:" I would list random shitty bands and random men looking to have "fun-filled pleasure sessions".

Music:

This would be the longest list ever. Right now it's all about Prince and whatever's on Sonic since my CD player is broken and I'm too lazy to get it fixed.

Movies:

UHF, Almost Famous, The Shawshank Redemption, The Princess Bride, Crash, What the Bleep do we Know?, Remember the Titans, The Commitments, Rain Man, The Ringer, Little Miss Sunshine, The Secret, Pursuit of Happyness, Freedom Writers, Night at the Museum, etc. etc.

Television:

Ellen, The Simpsons, The Office, Intervention, Family Guy.

Books:

Currently taking a break from Bill Bryson's latest to read The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz (just finished it) and The Secret by Rhonda Byrne (just started it). Life-changing stuff. Ellen talked about both books on her show. I'd pretty much jump off a cliff if she suggested it on her show.

Heroes:

Henry Rollins- I'd love to be inside his head. Ellen DeGeneres- she's comfortable in her own skin and starts my day off with laughter. My mom- she inspires me.

My Blog

A blog for the tumbleweeds and crickets

Wow this place feels deserted!  Logging in has the same vibe as rolling into a ghost town.... Anyhoo, I was reflecting today on how parallel the career and relationship aspects of my life se...

Smells like summer

As much as the sun hates me and my pale skin, I love it when the weather starts to really warm up. I often find myself wanting to do nothing but sit on a patio all day drinking beer, and sometimes I'l...

Updates and a picture of the cutest baby ever

It's been a lifelong dream of mine to go to Victoria, hang out with a baby and get my nose pierced.  Last week that dream came true.  The baby was really good, despite his refusal to adhere ...

There isn't enough makeup in the world to hide the bags under my eyes

I woke suddenly at 5:30 this morning unable to breathe.  I love being sick.  As I was desperately trying to fall back asleep my kid's alarm started going off every 9 minutes between hits of ...

Movin' on up

A couple months ago I decided I just couldn't live much longer without in-suite laundry.  As the end of my lease is fast approaching I started checking out apartments for rent in the area.&n...

Um... shit.

I generally enjoy my part-time job because I get to work with the low-functioning crowd and every day is something different.  This is usually a good thing as it's never monotonous and keeps me o...

Breaking up is NOT hard to do

I'll start off by answering what those of you close to me will be asking. "Aw, what happened?"  The latest boyfriend-du-jour and I broke up.  Why?  Simply put, we weren't right for each...

Goodbye meth, hello knife!

I was watching a report on the news the other day about the recent barrage of stabbings in our city.  The reporter commented that killing is the new 'high' for young people, replacing the hi...
