About Me

Born in Habana, I grew up in a highly mixed musical environment: afrocuban chants heating up the ceremonial religious atmosphere of Regla-my hometown-, all the typical rythms that cross your mind when you think of Cuba rumba, guaguanco..., were burning my waist in the street parties and carnivals... on the other hand my parents were lovers of the so forbidden foreing music coming from the north, which was hard to get back then by the time they were planning to make me, eventually they managed to have a very tasty collection of what was going on outside, from blues to rock crossing through jazz, r&b, soul, hiphop... and brazilian music, so my young mind was a fucking musical mess, I was listening to all kind of stuff and singing along with all those recordings... Well, whatever, eventually I took some classical training, and collaborated with some of the coolest latin jazz groups of Havana like Yasek Manzano's and the great Bobby Carcasses's who is a huge inspiration for me. Won the contest Jojazz 2005 (a competition annually held and presided by Chucho Valdes). Also performed in Havana's Jazz Festivals 2004 and 2005. Later I met hot producer Tariq Khan aka Terrecon aka Genie Stafford, and here I am in Montreal doing my first album with Highbreed Productions. I am absolutely loving multi-cultural Montreal and tasting all its flavours.
