let’s see… It literally seems like yesterday I was making use of my father's Pioneer HI-Fi, trying to pull up the volume of the headphone and to play some vinyl discs. It's hard to believe that was over 20 years ago.
I was born in 1981 in Bremen, Germany, and have lived here my entire life. I was very influenced by some older friends of my neighbourhood, which were already involved in the breakbeat scene in '93. I had the luck they provided me always with new tapes from London. So I began to listen breakbeats day and night, because I knew I found my music I was always seeking for. One of the most engaged breakbeat/jungle DJ's '93 - '98 in Bremen was the legendary DJ Smally-D aka Mirko Sieling (RIP '98), who has impressed me so much, of course beside all the UK top DJ's in that time like SS, Hype, Mickey Finn, Zinc, LTJ Bukem, Fabio, Juming Jack Frost, Grooverider, Randall, Ellis Dee, SY, to mentioned just a few.
Anyhow, while I was listening this music over my powerful HI-FI, I studied the theoretical terms of mixing, so it was quite easy for me to have control behind the decks in the time afterwards. 1995 I started to buy my own records, in order to get my own mix and scratch experience. Finally, ’97 I got my own decks and a huge record collection, which is growing statically since then.
However, 2002 I have begun to study Digital Media at the University of Bremen and one of my friends gave me the possibility to get familiar with DAW’s and I started to produce my own tracks. 2006 I graduated my B.sc. in Digital Media and I started in a perfectly smooth transition my MA in Digital Media at the University of the Arts. In addition to my study I started up my own business vivonic-media.de which is a union of all my works concerning my study and passion for dnb.
