Someone as independent as me.
Practically anything except for rap. Favorities include The Police, Klark Kent, U2, New Order, Joy Division, the Pixies, Southern Culture on the Skids, Dick Dale, Link Wray (the true originator of punk rock!), the Ramones, the Sex Pistols, the Clash, Big Audio Dynamite, Elvis, William Orbit, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Boceefus, Hank III, Merle Haggard, Loretta Lynn (God damn, I miss Conway), Tool, NIN, Oribital, Muddy Waters, Them, the McCoys, Lowen & Navarro, Jane's Addiction, the Crystal Method, the Pretty Things, David Grisman, Last Train Home, Mojo Nixon, Old School Freight Train, the Stone Roses, Sonic Youth, the Art of Noise, the Cure, Oasis, Therapy, Pink Floyd, Siouxsie and the Banshees, 808 State, Gaelic Storm, the Dares. But that's all old stuff. There's not much new out there so go and support your struggling local perfomers; chances are, they're 100% better than the crap the RIAA is peddling.
Not too many new movies, mostly older classics and independent stuff. Everthing out now sucks. I'm interested in Frank Miller's 300, Control (the story of Joy Division directed by Anton Corbjin, the best video music director ever), Stardust, and anything by Ken Loach.
They call it the idiot box for a reason, except for 24 and Heroes.
Currently reading Peter Ackroyd's Shakespeare: The Biography. Anything by Peter Ackroyd comes highly recommended. I loved his biography about William Blake's extraordinary life and this one is proving to be just a enjoyable.
Your average Joe, Stewart Copeland and his brother the late Ian Copeland, Kiefer Sutherland and host of many others.
