About Me

Are you FIRED UP?! READY TO GO?!
This page began as the official page for Draft Obama, the campaign to draft Senator Barack Obama to run for the presidency of the United States. Given the success of that grassroots movement, it now serves as a portal to the Obama campaign's official Myspace page (linked above) and website.
I am an undergraduate college student, soon-to-be graduate with degrees in both political science and public administration. It is my goal to provide you with the most up-to-date Obama news and events, taken from a variety of sources, such as major newspapers, reputable political blogs, and even the Obama campaign itself.
I urge you to consider the real change an Obama presidency would entail. At this critical time in our nation's history, we have the opportunity to elect a leader who has not only proven he can bring people together for the common good, as demonstrated by his extensive work as a community organizer and broad experience in public service, education, and civil rights law, but has also mobilized millions in a way that is rarely seen in American politics. The one thing that Americans want most, as a result of the last eight years, is CHANGE ... and Senator Obama is clearly the candidate of CHANGE!
Please consider joining this exciting movement - imagine an America no longer divided, but unified on this true message of hope. Senator Obama understands that stressing a move to work together in order to solve societal problems generates support among most Americans and helps to transcend partisan divisions, thereby allowing the President and Congress to move forward with the important changes that need to made with regard to issues such as the economy, the energy crisis, health care costs, American foreign policy, and the environment.
A lot is obviously at stake. Add this page as a friend and subscribe to the blog (as well as the official Obama campaign page and blog), and stay updated with relevant and noteworthy news, events, media clips, and, especially, issue positions that draw clear distinctions between Senators McCain and Obama.
Most importantly, spread the word! Tell your friends and family about this urgency for change and the new direction an Obama presidency will provide. Knowledge is power!
Yes, We Can!
*Meet Barack*
Senator Obama has been able to develop innovative approaches to challenge the status quo and get results. Americans are tired of divisive ideological politics, which is why Senator Obama has reached out to Republicans to find areas of common ground. He has tried to break partisan logjams and take on seemingly intractable problems. During his tenure in Washington and in the Illinois State Senate, Barack Obama has accumulated a record of bipartisan success.

"(Obama's speech on faith) may be the most important pronouncement by a Democrat on faith and politics since John F. Kennedy's Houston speech in 1960 declaring his independence from the Vatican...Obama offers the first faith testimony I have heard from any politician that speaks honestly about the uncertainties of belief."

"This party – of Jefferson and Jackson; of Roosevelt and Kennedy – has made the most difference in people’s lives when we’ve led, not by polls, but by principle; not by calculation, but by conviction; when we’ve had leaders who could summon the entire nation to a common purpose – a higher purpose. And I am running for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States because that’s the party America needs us to be right now."

I'd like to meet:

Barack in his own words:

"I was fortunate to be able to grow up seeing America from varied viewpoints. My childhood was spent in Hawaii and Indonesia. After college I worked as a community organizer on the South side of Chicago focusing on improving living conditions in poor neighborhoods.

I came to understand that to truly solve the problems facing our communities, it would take a change in our laws and our politics. I ran and served for seven years in the Illinois state Senate, where I fought for expanding children's health care, providing tax cuts for the working poor and enacting welfare reform. In 2004, I was elected to the U.S. Senate, where I have worked to pass laws securing dangerous weapons and making government more accountable. I have also opposed the Iraq war from the start, and believe that we need to bring our troops home by March of 2008 so we can refocus on the wider struggle against terrorism.

Of all my life experiences, I am most proud of my wife Michelle and my daughters Malia and Sasha."

Obama and his wife, Michelle, married in 1992 and live on Chicago's South Side where they attend Trinity United Church of Christ.

Barack Obama was born on August 4th, 1961, in Hawaii to Barack Obama, Sr. and Ann Dunham. Obama graduated from Columbia University in 1983, and moved to Chicago in 1985 to work for a church-based group seeking to improve living conditions in poor neighborhoods plagued with crime and high unemployment. In 1991, Obama graduated from Harvard Law School where he was the first African American president of the Harvard Law Review.
