Shake it to the GROOVE!!

About Me

Bringing positive messages to the world through music, Jai Finley sings the harmonies in her heart! It's not often these days one finds a songtress with the ability to blend the finesse of Phyllis Hyman with the artistry of Jill Scott, but Jai Finley's got that kind of vibe. Her feature story in the Atlanta Journal Constitution newspaper, (Sept. 22, 2006) promptly headlined "Star Power!" proclaims she has that "It" factor and the capacity to "wow" her audiences with her soulful renditions of covers and her own songs. The article came only six months after her arrival to the Atlanta area from her home in Oklahoma City and stands as solid confirmation she is indeed on the right path.
Jai's natural ability to engage an audience with her stage performance, quickly made the singer/songwriter a fan favorite in the "Who's Got That Vibe?" talent showcase at the legendary Cafe 290 (renown for live jazz) where she's made several guest appearances with the Hudson on Bass band. Jai's velvety tones and sultry melodies bring back that old school feel with a new school twist. It's a merging of the heart and soul and for those who can appreciate real music, true talent, and a down-home groove, Jai Finley hits the spot. Some call it Neo-Soul, some Neo-Jazz, but what Jai does with a song invites her listeners to participate mentally and musically.
In her song "This Lifetime" (a wedding favorite) she explores the soulmate syndrome and the possibility of finding that special someone "this lifetime." Cut to her song "Sweet Attraction" and she allows you to sit front and center on a sensuous flow of intense passion and intimacy "grownup style." If you've ever experienced a moment where everything just flows - the connection, chemistry, and vibe then, you can relate. What a blessing to enjoy such joyous intimacy...
It's a spiritual journey and music is her vehicle of choice. Let Jai Finley take you where the groove is. Climb aboard and enjoy, cause this groove is dope!

Influences: Jai’s style is unique. She’s a seasoned songwriter whose lyrics not only uplift and empower, but also invoke sultry memories.
Look out for her upcoming album, “Simple Words of Wisdom” featuring the grown and sexy Neo Soul/Neo Jazz hit “Sweet Attraction.”
Influenced musically by the soulful and sophisticated Phyllis Hyman, Sarah Vaughn, Luther, Anita Baker, Sade, Stevie Wonder, Yolanda Adams, Donnie Hathaway, Al Jarreau, Erykah Badu, Rachelle Ferrell, Tracy Chapman, Jill Scott, Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, India Arie, Tom Braxton, and many more…
Emotional, spiritual, and intellectual influences include God (the creator), my beautiful mother, Martha Ann Williams; wonderful freedom fighter father, the late, great Cecil L. Williams (the Black Businessman); his mother my Granny, Elsie Williams (who celebrated her 103rd birthday Oct. 9, 2006)- bless her soul - we lost her in April, brothers, Jerome (departed 1996), Cecil II, and John; sisters in spirit and life journey - Ava Lashawn Anderson, Deborah Walker, and many, many friends and colleagues - even my ex-hubby Bill he inspired me in many ways.
I'm just thankful for my blessings and even the obstacles I have truly overcome. They've helped me to be a stronger woman today. I know my true self. I can stand in my beauty and love me, even if no one else does... that takes strength, courage, and wisdom.

Sounds Like: Singer/songwriter Jai Finley’s warm toned vocals are reminiscent of days gone by… her jazzy, soulful grace and originality is engaging and delightful. Audiences find her a most welcome, refreshing ray of joy in a land of full of imitation, mediocrity, and copycats.
