Brent L. Brooks, better known on the streets as Blo, is an aspiring Hip Hop artist who resides in Columbia, South Carolina. He is a 27 year old white male who has been involved with rap music since the age of 7! He writes all of his own lyrics and has taught himself to formulate songs in a professional way.
Blo has done several shows in the Columbia area with local artists and has also performed along side acts such as D.J. Taz, The City Boyz, Dem Boys, Mystical, Witchdoctor, Mr. Hyde, F.L.A.T.T.I.E.S, and Shawty Red, just to name a few. He has been around the business side of the music industry by associating himself with Al Lanier of Down South Promotions and Twinn Production Records in Atlanta, Georgia where he performed in the BET Coca Cola rap contest at the World Congress Center. However, at the time of all of these events he was only 16 and not yet mature enough to handle the responsibilities of a serious career.
After letting some time pass he is now pursuing his love and passion for the music. He released the debut single entitled “Palmetto’s Finest� in June of 2006 in an effort to build a solid fan base in his home state and to create a buzz amongst record labels who are interested in an artist who is a hard working, dedicated M.C. who spits flame! The single sold over 3000 copies in stores and on the streets of South Carolina. This single was also submitted to radio stations statewide and received a great response! In Columbia, South Carolina the song ran as “Battle Of The Streetbeat� Champ on 100.1fm THE BEAT for over nine weeks which is the longest win streak ever! Charleston, South Carolinas Z93fm JAMZ radio station had Blo as champ for five weeks. A major priority for him at the present time is building unity amongst any and all entertainment personalities in his state no matter what the genre of music nor the position or status of the individual.
His Debut Album, “BLO isâ€Â¦ Brent Brooksâ€? release date will be posted in the near future. It is sure to be a classic.
