William Holden

I am here for Friends

About Me

I was born in O'Fallon, Ill in 1918, and moved out to Pasadena, Ca. as a kid. Dad was a pretty big guy in the George W. Gooch Laboratories, and was a board member. I spent great days as a kid riding motorcycles, and doing handstands on the Suicide Bridge in Pasadena. I was discovered onstage at Pasadena Jr. College playing Madam Curie's Dad, and was signed, after a big whoop doo da (almost like the Male Scarlett O'Hara search) to play the hero in Golden Boy (1939). Well, I never looked back. I was the first married Hollywood star to enlist in WWII, but never made it overseas.
