The Next Stage recently produced James Forsyth's SCREWTAPE, adapted from the C. S. Lewis classic "The Screwtape Letters." The hilarious sold-out production was presented at The Playhouse (directly across from the Alabama Theatre).
COMING UP NEXT: The Next Stage presents the World Premiere of AND THEY HEARD THE THUNDER OF ANGELS written and directed by the award-winning local playwright Ryan C. Tittle. Set in the fictional Walstone County, Alabama, Bobby Lee Turner (R. Daniel Walker) and Sara-Beth Talbot (Ashley Culpepper) share the perfect love, but their youth and good fortune perplex Bobby Lee, who is growing into a man and seeing the world with new eyes. When a beautiful young woman (Katherine Lauren Whitlock) moves to the small community, she promises to open Bobby Lee’s eyes while also threatening his very existence in this emotional and disturbing take on the coming of age. Also featuring Jake Blagburn. Ryan C. Tittle is the winner of the 1999 Ruby Lloyd Apsey Award in Playwriting and honors from the Alabama Writers' Forum and the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. The play will be performed March 15-18, 2007 at the Martha Moore Sykes Studio at the Virginia Samford Theatre. Thursday-Saturday performances are at 8:00 p. m., the Sunday matinee is at 2:30 p. m.
