With Nicola making name with her band called WARWICK, she has already pocketed prizes and achieved much success with her big voice and songwriting ability.
Nicola started off as a soloist of the multi award winning Tygerberg Children’s Choir. She toured Europe and sang Miriam Stockley’s “Adiemus†at the inauguration of President Mbeki. At the age of 14 she headed for the stage of Artscape doing musicals like Hänsel and Gretel, Annie Get Your Gun.
Throughout her high school years she had won a series of local competitions such as Perfect Pitch, Stars of the Future, Performing Arts, Gemini etc. At the age of 17 Nicola was named the International Eisteddfod winner in contemporary singing.
While studying Sound Engineering Nicola recorded some of her own material she had written. With her Title track on her Demo Album “Verstaanâ€, she won a national songwriting competition, “Plusliriekâ€, which was broadcasted on Kyknet in 2006. Nicola also made her first TV appearance on Fiesta (DSTV) in 2006. In late 2007 two of her compositions made it through to the Finals of the World Song Contest which is still to be broadcasted on television.
Nicola is now studying for her teacher’s diploma in music while being the vocal tutor at a music school called Jamrock. She is currently working on her original album as well.
Nicola is ‘n unieke, lewendige kunstenaar wat haar gewildheid bewys het met die suksesse wat sy by nasionale en internasionale sang en liedjieskryf kompetisies behaal het. Sy het ook talle plaaslike sangkompetisies gewen bv. Perfect Pitch, Stars of the future, Performing arts. Nicola was ook op 16 die jongste Top50 deelnemer van Idols in 2001.
Nicola het al op ‘n vroeë ouderdom begin optree as lid en solis van die Tygerberg Kinderkoor waar hul deur Europa getoer het in 1997 vir die Mandela’s Children’s Fund. Sy het selfs as solis van die koor by die inhuldiging van President Mbeki opgetree.
Op 17 jarige ouderdom was Nicola die wenner van die Internasionale Eisteddfod in kontemporêre sang. Sy het ook gematriekuleer met ‘n onderskeiding in musiek met Sang as haar hoofvak en klavier as byvak.
Na skool het Nicola agter die klankbord gespring en was as Top-student by CAE (college of Audio Engineering) aangewys.
Daarna was sy deel van produksies by die Nico Malan (Hansie en Grietjie) en Artscape (Annie get your gun).
Nicola het ook naam gemaak as ‘n liedjieskrywer deur dat sy met haar titelsnit “Verstaan†die Plusliriek liedjieskryf kompetisie gewen het wat op Kyknet uitgesaai was in 2006. In 2008 het sy met 2 komposisies tot die eindrondte deurgedring by die World Song Centest wat by Carnival City gehuisves was.
Nicola se CV getuig dat sy vir haar musiek lewe en word bewonder deur almal wat in aanraking kom met haar.
