Heinz (Burt)

Dreams do come true

About Me

Born 25th July 1942 in Hargen Germany Heinz was originally the bass player in the instrumental band The Tornados who had a massive transatlantic hit with the song "Telstar" composed and produced by 60's oddball/genius Joe Meek. Heinz was taken under Meek's wing, who was obsessed with the young man, and groomed to become a huge sucess in his own write. However this sucess seemed to fall short as Heinz only really ever managed to bag one hit with a tribute song to Eddie Cochran "Just like Eddie" which reached number 5 in the UK around mid 1963. Although his popularity in the sixties may have never culminated the way in which Meek would have envisaged the two carried on making records together until Meek's death in 1967. These records are now seen as classics and are adored by the many fans of Meek and Heinz still sounding just as chirpy, catchy and fresh as the day they were released. Unfortunately Heinz died at the age of 57 after fighting a courageous battle against motor-neurone disease. He is sadly missed by family, friends and fans.Heinz Burt, musician, born July 24 1942; died April 7 2000.. width="425" height="350" ..
