The Vasarely Foundation

La Fondation Vasarely, Aix en Provence

About Me

Built in 1976 by Victor Vasarely and inaugurated by Georges Pompidou, the Foundation was built as an exhibition and teaching centre to demonstrate Vasarely's theories about the integration of colour theory and practice into urban surroundings and everyday architecture to improve the quality of life for everyone. Today it also functions as the ultimate monument to the man's life and work. It is built on a hill previously owned by Paul Cezanne, whose family sold Vasarely the land to build the Foundation, overlooking Mont Ste Victoire.
Since 2003 The Foundation has been home to the annual Territoires Electroniques festival of music, film and digital art, supported by a network of partners, of which Warp Records was the best known for the first years of the festival.
The festival will take place at the Foundation again in 2007, add us as a friend to recieve updates!
