Sky Picnic is a band that has a wide array of influences- drawing mainly from the 60's British Psychedelic scene (Revolver/ Sgt. Pepper era Beatles, Syd Barrett and early Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix Experience); early progressive rock (Yes) and artists ranging from the Doors to Radiohead, as well as Eastern influences, making the band’s music a unique form of art.
Sky Picnic’s songs address such poignant ideas as over-indulgence (Who Knows How It Ends), war-time politics (Visions of War), and the complexities of growing older (Universal Mind Decoder), among other things, in an artistically philosophical manner. Their demo record entitled "The Complex Colour Streams of the Labyrinthine Sunrise", self-released in September 2007, can be purchased through the Sky Picnic website (in both a physical disc or MP3 download format) and at all shows. An EP is in the works for Fall 2008.
So check out Sky Picnic, give them a listen- who knows, it may just expand your mind.
