I WAS BORN AND RAISED in the notorious Brownsville,Catskill section of Brooklyn MY parents Lorna Smith Tyson and Jimmy "the Weasel" Kirkpatrick. MY early childhood was marked by poverty and unhappiness,MY mother had to fend for the entire family following the departure of MY father when I was two years old. I grew up on the streets of Brownsville, where I would sometimes savagely beat those who ridiculed MY high-pitched, lisping voice. As a youth, I was constantly in trouble with the police over petty crime and thuggery. I was passed in and out of juvenile detention centers, and was expelled from high school for fighting.I was discovered by Bobby Stewart, who noted MY raw boxing ability and awesome potential for the ring. I was an outstanding physical specimen, weighing 200 lbs at the age of 13 and bench pressed more than MY own weight. Stewart trained ME for a few months, then introduced ME to the legendary Cus D'Amato his first reaction when he saw ME sparring was to say "that's the future heavyweight champion of the world". He took ME under his wing and adopted ME, and trained ME over the next few years, teaching ME all the techniques and movements a stocky heavyweight could use. Despite MY size I soon became a superb heavyweight contender.D'Amato died before I became the youngest world heavyweight titleholder in history.
