ORCHID LEAVES : international unplugged folk rock

About Me

The German-American duo ORCHID LEAVES plays a mixture of different styles (rock, folk). It is the challenge and joy of the individual members to play for the open minded public. They play original songs with epic English lyrics for guitars and vocals in their very own and unique style: delicate but solid...

Maxi CD - MMNRecords (MMN 001)- Germany Produced by Orchid Leaves, recorded at SAE Studios in Berlin, and engineered by Max Haas and Carsten Koch. MMN announces: "In March 2000, ORCHID LEAVES released their debut maxi CD. The band features American singer Phaedra Alexis Trass, and Yellowhouse guitarist, Hartmut Kreckel. This yet new line-up created a special brand of melodic unplugged songs in their very own style with epic lyrics. A further information can be found on the Official ORCHID LEAVES website : "Three songs are from the first Orchid Leaves period. "For My Own" is a new song, written by Phaedra Alexis Trass and Hartmut Kreckel. * FREE AT LAST - When you reached the end of the tunnel and you crossed that line; then you´re a lucky person, for you´ve set yourself free; free from something or someone that kept holding you back or used you for a ride. You finally get used to your newly acquired freedom and will be able to cope with it, then you can say "I´m free, free at last!!!" (written in summer 1999 by Hartmut Kreckel)* FOR MY OWN - When you´ve had a relationship going and after it´s finally over, you draw to the conclusion that in retospect you should have never taken your partner back again after you split the first time around. You obviously must have done something wrong. Live and learn... (Written in winter 1999 by Phaedra Alexis Trass and Hartmut Kreckel)* PRISONER OF TIME - A song about peace and war, love and hate, children and old people, fire and water... (Written in 1988 by Hartmut Kreckel) * FADED GLORY - This is a very sad story about a once famous rock singer, who was used as a tool by unscrupulous managers, that cleared away and left him in the dirt. "It´s about a friend, whom I´ve never met". (Written in summer 1999 by Hartmut Kreckel).

Influences: CD REVIEW:
Orchid Leaves "Free At Last" CD reviewed @ Dinosaur Days (South Africa):
Orchid Leaves - Free at last, on MMN Records. Still on the subject of Captain Beyond, Dinosaur Days listeners will recall that a while ago, we featured an album called "A Tribute to Captain Beyond - Thousand Days of Yesterdays". One of the bands featured on this album was Orchid Leaves, and they chose to do a stunning version of the CB track "Starglow Energy" on the album. Orchid Leaves is Hartmut Kreckel on acoustic guitars and Phaedra Alexis Trass on vocals, and their "Free at Last" album is actually a four track acoustic EP, with all four songs written by Kreckel with Trass co-writing one of them. Trass has the most remarkable voice and is perfectly suited to Kreckel's gentle, uncomplicated and pleasant style. The four tracks are "Free at Last", "For my Own", "Prisoner of Time", and "Faded Glory", with "Free at Last" being the stand-out track, although all four tracks are very good, making it a fine addition to your collection.
