REL (aka Rich Lindo)

About Me

REL (Rich Lindo). A relative unknown in the GTA hip hop scene, REL began his music career as a producer for the hip hop group "Nu Beings" of Nu planet enterprises. Unfortunately, a number of various life circumstance saw the group dismantled in 2002. At this point in time REL shifted his focus towards his studies, pursuing an Honours degree from the University of Toronto. REL's music career would have to take a backseat to the high demands of university as well as a number of stressors in his family life (i.e. the declining health of his father who would require his second heart surgery in 10 years as well as increasing financial turmoil). In 2006 REL graduated from the University of Toronto. After attaining stable full-time employment to assist with his family's finaicial struggles as well as seeing the health of his father improve, REL was finally in a position where he could once again prsue his life's passion - a music career. In late 2006, alongside Damien "Dukez" Francis, REL began recording his first project - Mind Revolution. This time around however, REL looked to expand his involvement within his music by holming his craft and pursuing artistry as an MC in addition to producing. Due to a limited, or virtually non-existent budget, REL also was forced to record and engineer the majority of his project by himself out of a self-made home studio (with the exception of a few tracks, recorded and mixed by Damien Francis). In an era where it seems sound quality has taken precedence over song quality, REL maintains the position that real will ALWAYS recognize real and that by having his music serve as a reflection of reality, the people will feel it. Despite the lack of a budget for his album, the response from the street on a underground level has been very positive thus far as there has been somewhat of an outpouring of support and respect from listeners and other artists alike. Many believe this is due to the socially conscious content of REL's lyrics.
