In 1997, BYD was created by PAPA JON [Jonathan Schonholz] and JUICE, aka LUK-E [Lucas Haberman], both South American transplants living in USA. Exploring the music and dance scene in the international and culturally diverse Magic City---MIAMI,...Bring Your Dosage set out to express themselves in the Breakdancing and Liquid circles of the Electro-Breaks and Bass Parties that the city used to be known for. Later that year, also finding an outlet for home-grown, underground local hip-hop in the Hip Hop Elements Throwdowns and practice sessions in the Hollywood Police Athletic League Gym, where our unique blend of electro and old school tactics developed. As our knowledge and obsession unravelled, a childhood friend living in Atlanta came back to MIA in 1998 and connected paths, the energetic and flavorful CHUCK-E [Aric Weis] brought an interesting twist and tweak to the crew. In the early days we had in and out members like Frankie-T [Cristian Haberman], Hash-Rock aka Komik [Jan Ascanio], California Adam, and Marco. All 2nd Generation BYD
Year 2000 was the new technology in B.Y.D. as PAPA JON went on tour all over Europe and some of Africa spreading the dosage to 17 countries, Chuck-E and Juice began instructing breakdancing and recruited the 3rd Generation-- ENSYTE [Robert Adamyan, Armenian], OMEGA-SELF [Franky, Miami-Jamaican], FUNK CHILD [Cody], and Luigi. Aged from 14-16 at this time, they were the new and exciting crop of Miami-Dade County and BYD. Winning competitions like HIP HOP ELEMENTS THROWDOWN for crew and the NEXT 2 SHINE [Ensyte] for solo performance in 2001 and 2002.In 2002, we saw the departure of Komik, Funk Child, and Omega, who linked up with DJ Anubis to form D.O.S. Definition of Style, who BYD fully supports as they went on to do more of a Jungle and Drum&Bass scene. Ensyte expanded the crew with SKETO and KEESE from Coral Springs and the three set out to completely dominate competitions like A BREAKERS DOZEN and flavor circles all over Florida.
