The new generation of alternative filmmakers is forging a unique style that cheerfully mashes-up arthouse with grindhouse and gene-splices Hollywood with Ed Wood. Regardless of genre, the Alt-Filmmakers are reflecting today's aggressively irreverent sensibility with their taste for the stylishly bizarre and brazenly extreme.
Midnight movies, dangerous documentaries, cult films, transgressive cinema, alt-porn, grindhouse, underground film… just a few of the many labels used over the years to identify DEFIANT, FEARLESS, GROUNDBREAKING films – y’know, the kinds of movies that Hollywood remakes 20 years later.
We call it ALT-FILM!
We’re proud and excited to host some of the most badass, bleeding-edge young gun filmmakers plus the iconic and influential Godfathers of Alt-Film at this nationwide touring festival.
The Alt-Film Festival hits the road in the Fall of 2007, spending a weekend in each city on its coast-to-coast trek. Here’s what you can expect when the AFF reaches your town:
- ALT-FILM PANEL: The fest kicks off with an alt-filmmaker panel at your local underground-dvd store. Starting with a keynote address by one of the Godfathers of Alt-Film, the discussion will then turn to a “Nuts & Bolts Of Alternative Filmmaking†forum with some very special guests. The panel will feature exclusive previews of upcoming alt-films, dvd signings, contests, giveaways, and behind-the-scenes advice on how to make movies. If you’re an up & coming filmmaker, you definitely won’t want to miss this!
- ALT-ART GALLERY: After the panel, join us for a gallery show featuring paintings, illustrations, and photographs from some of our favorite underground artists.
- AFTER PARTY: Live music, free booze, alt-film starlets… fun for the whole family!
- MIDNIGHT MOVIES: All weekend long, your favorite local indie movie theater will host midnight screenings of some of our favorite Alt-Films!
