Check out Sarah Brightman's
movie debut.

I grew up in Altoona, Pa., an area where 6 generations of ancestors lived on both sides of the family. A great little city with a lot of good people and good memories. I don't know why, but I keep hearing jokes about Altoona in films and even George Burns subtitled a book after that railroad city.
For the past 30+ years I've lived in Central Pennsylvania near Harrisburg, which is central to New York, Baltimore, DC, Philly, Los Angeles. Seriously, after a walkon on One Life to Live, casting director Mary Jo Slater (yep, Christian's mom) told me I had to move to NYC. That was about the time Three Mile Island blew up and I made the decision to stick it out and help my parents who were living in Middletown.
So to cut the story short, I'm lucky enough to be a working writer and editor. Right now it's mostly historical books and magazine articles, but I have a novel and at 400 pages, I'm finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, for lack of a better cliché. It's kind of a romantic coming of age story about a young, naive rock musician from Altoona, Pa., who ends up in Thailand during the Vietnam War. Romantic hard lessons, saving the country from spys, held prisoner by insurgents, rescuing a princess, and narrowly escaping being included on the Vietnam Memorial Wall are part of turning a boy into a man. Of course, I don't want to give away the plot before it's published. Just a note to acquaintances from the past, this is fiction and names have been changed to protect the guilty! Oh, and my novel writing is nothing like my blog and "About Me" drivel.
As for the acting, mostly live stage productions, everything from local community theater to regional professional theater with some well-known actors. I love the process of performing a story on stage, the preparation, the development of the character. I've also had some blink-you-miss-me moments in films. Not enough to give up the day job.
More recently, I've ventured back into personal management, an area I've dabbled in from time to time. The Public Relations background, run for state political office, acting, and music background has helped certain skills and instincts. Some new things are happening in my business, Lauver Management, but I can't really talk about it in detail right now. I wish I could, because it's something I'm quite excited about.
