(CBS4) HIALEAH Two men suspected of gunning down a 25 year old woman in the parking lot of a Hialeah motel last week have been taken into custody.
Tamika Lucas, who was visiting South Florida from South Carolina, was killed during what witnesses called a failed robbery attempt at the Presidente Hotel.
Hialeah Police said Lucas, and a friend, met 27-year old Ojavi James and 25-year old Paul Jean-Francois at a nightclub. The four then allegedly went back to Lucas’s hotel. A short time later 2 more of Lucas’s friends showed up.
When all 6 were about to leave the hotel, James and Francois reportedly pulled guns and tried to rob the others. In an effort to get away, Lucas sprayed one of the men with pepper spray. He allegedly then shot and killed her. Her friends made it to safety and called police.
Thursday morning, Hialeah Police arrested James at his northwest Miami Dade home. Francois was picked up last week in Broward County. Both men will face murder charges.
